Yes, he is Shaykh Muqbil bin Hadi al wada'ee the scholar of Yemen who ran the Markaz in Sadah the village of Damaaj. He is amongst the elite of the scholars during the time of sh. Albani, sh. Bin Baz, sh. Uthaymin.
He converted to Sunnah from Zaidi Shi'ism. So people around him became skeptical about him. It happens people will see you as a deserter for leaving the sect. So during conflicts his tribes might have been protecting him.
May Allaah have mercy upon him and may He make him from the believers who laugh on that Day as mentioned in Surah Mutaffin!
