Kader Abdolah, arrived in the Netherlands in 1988 at the age of 33, without knowing a word of Dutch. Two decades later, his novel was voted the second- best book ever written in Dutch. The son of a deaf carpet repairman, he has been searching all his life for those words that allow us to exist.
