      Yes- LaserCubes are not cheap, but if you compare pricing to other high powered alternatives they are reasonably priced and a very high quality product. If you break down and buy one, I think you will never regret it...

      They used to be cheaper a couple years ago when they were just 1watt and now the 3.5 watt is very expensive as is everything else.

    Hello Steve!! New to the channel, found you by some thorough laser researching, this comparison video is GOLD!! My work ideas can be done with the 1W model while I contract the first 15 businesses which by then should be enough money to instantly upgrade to the 2.5W, in maybe no more than a 3 months time or less obviously. Does that sound reasonable? Based on the workload of the 1W right? And Steve sir, why do you choose to use 20' in cables for the older 1W? Why do you not use wireless usb adapters? They exist don't they? Honest question, I have never googled it.
    And lastly sir, if you would please, where can I buy a used 1 watt unit? I dont need a warranty, I just need the 1W unit with software in my hands ASAP. Please recommend some sites that have US Shipping.

    • @LearnLizard
      @LearnLizard  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Christopher- thanks for the kind words! LaserCubes are incredible products- Wicked Lasers has discontinued selling the older generation USB cubes and now is focused on the WIFI model. X-laser.com is the US distributor. I'm not sure where the best place to find used LaserCubes would be.
      At one point I researched wireless usb adapters and had even considered doing a video on them, but the choices were limited and their performance/reliability didn't seem suited for live use. That may have changed by now, but I made the decision then to go with hardwired usb for reliability.

      Hi and thanks for the encouraging words!
      Most modern small DMX gobo lights use LED's as their light source which are usually rated for thousands of hours of life. So most likely the LED's will outlast the light itself.

    I love all your videos! I need your advice. I want to hard wire a disco ball in my house. I want to get a quality ball and hardware. I need it to look like you installed it for me. Thanks for the videos.

    • @LearnLizard
      @LearnLizard  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi- I've never worked a disco ball into any of my rigs before, but to do it you would need to buy a disco ball (duh!) like this one:
      amzn.to/3o63kdH
      Then you would need to mount a motor to your ceiling. Actually not that hard (plenty of youtube videos showing how)
      This motor runs on batteries and includes LED lights so you wouldn't have to run any additional electrical:
      amzn.to/2REgBxT
      To get even a better effect you would want to aim a pinspot light directly at the ball such as this one:
      amzn.to/3o9DSUp
      I really hope you get one set up- sounds like a good party!!!

    • @CharlesjNWH
      @CharlesjNWH 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LearnLizard Steve! I installed my 16 inch Mirror Ball today. I hardwired it to a dedicated switch and painted the motor housing to blend with the ceiling. I had to rewire some of this living area including pulling wires in the attic. My wife is the greatest of help. This whole thing was not easy for me because I am not even an intermediate electrician. However my set up looks amazing. I want to thank you for the help and inspiration.

    Hi Steve, I’ve been looking at these for quite some time but yet to bite the bullet as I just don’t know what one to purchase. It will be used purely for light shows when I’m DJ’ing at home and also to “show off” to my mates. Do you think I need the 2.5w or 2.5w pro? Also can the 1w still engrave items? Thanks

    • @LearnLizard
      @LearnLizard  ปีที่แล้ว

      The regular 2.5w is as bright as the pro and looks just as good with most of the patterns IMHO. If you need an ILDA interface or a higher scan rate (for smoother looking graphics) you might want to consider the pro. Yes the 1w will engrave, but obviously not with the same intensity or power as its bigger brothers. Appreciate you watching!

    Again, great videos! I am still looking for a fun laser animator. I was not able to locate the Laser Cube 1 in the US anywhere? Do you have any thoughts where I might be able to purchase one? When clicking your link in the description, it takes me to the site, and then when I choose US, it goes to another site and there is only 1 option available - no lower powered Laser Cube or even the USB item. Thanks so much :) -Scott

    • @LearnLizard
      @LearnLizard  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi- Wicked Lasers made the decision to produce WIFI LaserCubes only and has stopped making any of their original USB devices. Their US distributor (X-Laser) only has the new ones available as well. You would have to find one second hand at this point (try the Facebook users group or Reddit group) The WIFI version is really way better (although a bit pricy) Good luck!

      I think that's a fair question! LaserCubes are kind of in a class by themselves when it comes to power and functionality vs size. I don't know of any other lasers that are that small and easy to program with so many professional features. Definitely a great product!

    • @LearnLizard
      @LearnLizard  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 2W is almost as bright but the biggest difference is that it connects to the software (running on PC, Mac, Android device or iPhone) with a USB cable while the 2.5W connects via WIFI. Wicked Lasers is phasing out the older generation of USB connected cubes so if you want a 2W, better grab one (if they are still available) before those are all gone.

But you can’t use them outside, the public can’t see it unless you have a permit, and functions are disabled on it by default (pop and burn).
