    Tunnels are sweet. I love the hear those engines roar past you. It brings me back when I was a kid standing near them felling the vibration of all those horses roaring past me. The horns are super loud but I like it.

    I've seen quite a few Herzog trains out here on BNSF and CP. 2 of the best were on CP, one had 3 SD40-2 leaders the other had 4. Both were loaded and the sound of all the EMD 645 prime movers under load was awesome.

    Oh jaw tooth,what can I say,you always come up with a better video all the time! I lived that cloudy day scenery,and the emerging locos blasting their horns!! Tunnels are cool,in NY when the subway enters a tunnel, its such a deep darkness,on some lines,it goes in and back out again,of course the scenery is urban,but there's still a thrill entering a tunnel. Wow! That's a huge side by side frieghts going at the same time,twelve thumbs up jaw tooth!!!

    My enjoyment - listening to those engines lay the power down climbing the hill. Almost shakes the desk here! Second train kicks in at 5:53 or so. Listen to those DPU's growl :) Very cool stuff :)

    That's some good stuff right there, don't know what it is about tunnels that's so dang interesting and curious but they sure are. Thanks Mr. Jaw Tooth!

    • @1ChevyGuy375
      @1ChevyGuy375 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think one thing that makes them interesting is that they were built many years ago. You have many man hours into building these tunnels by the sweat of the brow of men who are probably no longer alive. It’s an architectural structure sitting in the middle of the woods half forgotten about. It’s a part of history!

      Quick question for you Jawtooth -from 9.29 onwards is that a catch fence or an alarm fence in the cutting ?? I take it the trees are higher up that the trains -so is it to catch rocks or falling trees ? Cant really see that well !

    Track 1, a/k/a the slide is 90% eastbound with only the occasional westbound Pennsylvanian. Tracks 2 and 3 will see mostly westbound traffic, with very heavy eastbound traffic that poses a risk of running away on the steep grade on track. That’s cool, son! However, it is private property and is patrolled by NS and local police.

    Great video. I’ve only gotten videos from the western portals in Gallitzin. Nice little town. The B&B That is right on the edge of the western portals is a great place to stay overnight and watch the trains come through the tunnels, too. May I suggest you try and hit the Sand Patch Tunnel and Fall’s Cut Tunnel for some great CSX action sometime? Not much in the way of HD video that I’ve seen lately, but those are some great tunnels on the Sand Patch Grade with a lot of Notch 8 action uphill and a ton of dynamic braking down. Love to make my way out there sometime.

      Jussi, the un-used tunnel (Gallitzin Tunnel) was closed after they widened the Allegheny Tunnel (which we see the two consists go through). I know the western portal of the Gallitzin Tunnel is bricked over and closed, but it looks like the eastern portal is still open. It would definitely be a cool look inside though.
