    I agree, they come up BIG, so order a size smaller that you would usually - and that goes for all gravel bikes. At 6'1" the L was too big. The M provided much more comfort, ability to move around the bike, and reduced risk to my "junk" 🙂

      Whats your inseam? And is the M not too agressive with that height? I am 6‘1 as well

    I have a Grizl sizing chart recommended a small. I usually ride a medium (54) so a little apprehensive. However the small fits me perfectly. Very happy a great bike.

      Hi David, I am getting the same recommendation from the Canyon sizing chart. I am 5'10" with a 31.5 inseam, and on other bikes, I am in between a medium and large 54/56. On my 2021 Domane, I ride a 56cm frame. The small size recommendation from Canyon is why I haven't bought one yet. Do you think a small is still a good fit for someone with my measurements? Thanks

      any updates/feedback on your ends? I just posted a comment above and its the same thing for me.. sizing recommendations are a bit off to me.

      You wrote you ride 54 normally. Grizl Small top tube is 562 mm, by the way... It's all about the seat tube angle, you need to be aware of that. If seat tube angle is steep then top tube should be longer...

    I'm 6' 3" currently on a large Specialized Turbo Vado SL that fits perfectly, My brothers 6'5" and has the XL in a turbo Como , I fit on both but his bike is huge in comparison to mine , I'm just more confident on the large 😊

    I stumbled across this video, and it could not be more perfect or helpful. I am the same height with the same inseam, and I bought an XL Grizl, and i've been wondering if I should have gone with the L. This gives me confidence I bought the right size. Thanks for posting this video!

    Hey man thank you for the info! I really DON'T want to buy the Grizl8CF and I definitely missed the sale on the 7. Zero experience with CX/GX.. Been on road bikes for quite some time, and Id like to transition to something more versatile/comfortable, especially for commuting to and from work. There is a G7 somewhat close to me for a decent price, low mileage but its and XS and Canyon recommended a S for me; 5'9 32 inseam. Glad to know there is a chance due to larger frame sizing? But maybe I'll triple check my measurements and give Canyon a ring. Cheers man! Happy riding

    Hey! thanks for the post this has been helpful. I'm in the same position as many trying to decide between an L and XL. I'm 74" tall with a 36.5" inseam in boxers. Canyon recommends a L and I managed to test ride a L yesterday that someone local had. It felt good though I end up with the seat fairly high with my long legs. What's your thoughts? appreciate the help!

    I went into a local shop and was initially interested in buying a Specialized but ended up going with the Canyon Grial. When I was sized for the Specialized, I was sized at medium but when I went on the Canyon website, I was sized as a small and my bike works great at small!

    Thank you for the video. I think, it's really important to measure your inseam correctly. Barefoot and with the help of a spirit level.Two centimeters of the inseam could make the difference between two frame sizes. But also think about your weight an the arm length.

    I am 6” with a 32in inseam. The tool says M. I currently have a Cervélo P2 58cm. I am concerned about a M being too small. Most of the numbers on the canyon are similar to the cervelo, except stand over. I would rather be in a L, because I hate feeling compact. Thoughts??

    • @bgfb
      @bgfb  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey @Adam Kurtz I would say as long as your 32 is barefoot you should be ok.....however I would take a careful look at the diff between M and L on the 99 spokes site (geometry chart)and not consider other bike brand sizes. You can also call the Carlsbad HQ showroom (833) 226-9661 and ask someone to actually measure the standover if they have a L handy, which i think they might as a display bike. They open at 11 PST and they should be happy to do something because it is raining here today. If you cant get them to cooperate or they just try to steer you towards the measuring tool output, I can stop by there this week and measure it for you( if they still have the L on showroom floor)

  • @tinglydingle

    I'm 195cm (6'4") with a 90cm (35.5") inseam. The website recommends me an XL for the Grizl. I normally prefer a slightly smaller frame size, so I was looking at the L instead maybe. Based on your experience, what would you suggest?

    • @bgfb
      @bgfb  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey @Monkey Based on your numbers I would suggest going with XL for sure. Especially assuming you are going for one with a Dropper. The cockpit is compact in a good way and the added maneuverability that the dropper offers makes the Grizl easy to handle and turn. (Don't think about sizing comparison to other brands....especially road bikes). hope that helps. let me know about other questions, concerns etc...I see that the CF SL 7 is $300 bucks cheaper than a few months ago

    Great video! I'm 74 inches with a 34 inch inseam. I'm torn whether to size down to a Large or up to an XL. Most road and MTB I have are XL, 58cm, and 60cm... What are your thoughts?

    • @bgfb
      @bgfb  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey @Peter Franz, Jr. , Just to verify that you have taken your inseam measurement barefoot. Correct? With cycling shoes on , you will have just enough clearance over the top tube on the XL to not hurt yourself. Reach should not be an issue unless your arms are on the shorter size (32 inches or less) (estimate) Past that I would consider the type of riding and trails that you will be riding most of the time. The L might handle a bit better for you in the tight and twisty stuff or be better if you are going to be on/off the bike a lot in technical terrain, while the XL may offer more stability for higher speeds on rough terrain. Let me know if you have other questions. Also, if getting the dropper post model, install the dropper post prior to handlebar install and make sure to use all the paste on whichever seat post you get after cleaning it with alcohol. hope this helps. Enjoy!

      @@bgfb Thanks! Yes I measured my inseam with only socks on. I went with L so that I wouldn't be too stretched out on the more techy sections!
      However, the website had my wife slightly into an XS but I couldn't let my 5'7" wife (32 inch inseam) ride 650b wheels! She has a size S ordered with 700c! She's only going to be on wide open straight sections

    Hey! Thanks a lot for this video. I am 75” tall with 35.5” inseam. I currently have a Grizl L on the way + a 110 stem. Do you think I will be fine like that? Or should I test the XL as well? I want to have a neutral position (preferably because I am planning on doing long rides every other weekend). Thanks for the video!!

    • @bgfb
      @bgfb  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @HeylmRod Hey! Cool! First of all I would say YES to trying an XL size if possible Since you're also kinda right in the middle where either size could work. I would base it on the terrain that you will be riding most of the time. Tight and twisty VS Wide open and faster.
      I used to live and ride in a heavily wooded area which was all tight and twisty. For that the L would be a better choice for quicker more responsive handling. Where I am now is more wide open and faster so XL being a bit longer is more stable........
      hope that helps!

      @@bgfb It sounds like the XL is the way to go for me then! I have the size L coming in tomorrow. • @bgfb
      @bgfb  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey@SuperJannie01 I think you should be OK with a Large based on your inseam length. That is the critical area for obvious reasons......Reach to bars is compact and is not an issue. If getting one with dropper post see my other videos on setting that up before attaching bars. Enjoy!
