This is a training protocol for "unprompted attention" and it is SO useful for green dogs. When you first train this, you are looking for a glance, which cannot be seen on the video. It might be "cleaner" to hold your hands in a normal position, though. Or, at the very least, quickly work to the dog offering eye contact without being dependent on food being dispensed only in an obvious way. If necessary, perhaps subtly placing the hand with the food behind your leg, so it is clear to the dog that you are looking for eye contact, not waiting for you to present the SD of "food in hand at waist level of human." Good catch.

Yes that is a great game but you were not rewarding her for looking at you. You rewarded her for looking at your waist, your chest, but not at you!!!!
I agree. Holding food in front is a huge distraction (overshadowing).
