  • Infamous, it may be, but catch it at the right time and it's no problem. No drama on this one, just a nice sail and how I managed it.

I've only just found and subscribed to your channel, I'm binge-watching, all the episodes. I'm planning something similar for when I retire, so it's really relevant to me and my plans for my Fulmar.
I'm still trying to work out what your boat is, no doubt you'll say it in one of the as of yet unwatched episodes.
    Many thanks for the channel.

First of all, welcome to my channel, and thanks. The boat is a Grampian 34-2, made in Norfolk in 1978 - a fin keel. Enjoy the rest of the vids, and best of luck with your plans.

Well done! That's an interesting video! I sailed through Jack's Sound and Ramsay last year and I appreciate your trepidation!

I looked at Jack's Sound when I exited South Haven on Skomer but my timing was wrong, so I went west and then n north. I've heard the passage west of Ramsey can be pretty hair raising too. The waters north of Holyhead have been brilliant so far. Looking to explore Shetlands/Outer Hebrides and islands this summer.

This is the first time I’ve ever seen your channel, but I’ve subscribed because I think it’s going to be a great adventure for me too! I enjoy the explanations for why & how you do things without building a clock……

Great sailing! You did absolutely the right thing waiting to go through the Sound. I know you take a view on risk, but i think your viewers would rather you didn't end up in a watery grave....how about a couple of jack lines and clipping on deck when underway? Have a good Christmas and all the best. James

Thanks for watching and the feedback. I do have Jack lines, and as I watch my recordings when editing I find myself thinking I really should be clipped on. It only takes one major jolt on the boat or a slip and I'm over the side. I think the new sailing season will come with a new approach - I'll be sailing the northern Scottish waters up to the Shetlands.
