I can only imagine their hurt and their (unjustified) feelings of guilt: I believe, without a doubt in the world, he knew they loved their dad, regardless of any silly tiffs they had at the time... I was extremely lucky, bc my dad and I made our truce after an argument that lasted well over a year; two weeks later he fell ill and was diagnosed with stage-4 cancer; he left about 5 weeks later.
