"God can write straight with crooked lines". What a blessing for my broken soul. Dear Lord, please have mercy on me and help me to live and focus on this day and put my wife's ovarian cancer journey in your loving, capable, glorious, miraculous hands. In Jesus's name I pray, Amen!
January 20, 2025 Monday. Here I am. Happy MLK!I am still following along, but I'm often in my car and can't always add my comment on the go! Day off today tho….!
Thanks Fr. Mike for the trouble you take to read, and then explain, beautiful insight, I was touched when you mentioned that God can make some thing beautiful in your brokeness. Prayers assured.
"God can write straight with crooked lines." I think that is just the coolest line. It reminds me of "even broken crayons can still color". The prayer Father Mike gave after the readings was incredible. It is hard to put into words how it made me feel. I just know I was meant to hear that prayer. Praying for all on this journey.
Nothing given to God is ever wasted. Thus, we must surrender our mistakes, sins, our challenges, our life, and our past to Him. What a great analysis about brokenness. Jesus' genealogy was also full of brokenness but Jesus corrected everything for everyone and redeemed all. Nobody is perfect except Jesus. Thank you, Fr. Mike and Team Ascension. God bless
I needed this message so badly today. I hate myself when I lose my temper and am not kind. God can still forgive me and use me. Thank God and thank you, Fr Mike.
Amen and Amen. God please help my son to return to you. He’s broken and disconnected from reality. May God hear and answer our prayers, in Jesus mighty name I pray 🙏🙌❤️🎚️
I pray for you and your family, as I too, experienced my family's brokenness just yesterday. May we place it squarely in God's loving and capable hands.
Pray, but you need to reach him yourself, too. Have you been absent and distant from his heart? Show him the love of a parent, even if you have to humble yourself as Christ humbled himself for us.
I am grateful for this Bible in a year and Fr Mikes interruption. I most likely never would have read it on my own even with good intentions of trying to…. My prayers for Fr Mike and all mankind as God has blessed my life🙏🏻❤️
Thank you father Mike, I am grateful to you for your little talk at the end of each chapter , it brings the word Of God alive . If it wasn't for your wisdom and knowledge and teaching I could never work it out myself. God bless you Always Father Mike
Thank you, Fr. Mike. Praying for you and everyone here. Abba, Father, as You reveal Yourself to us through The Holy Spirit, we acknowledge that You are our only God, LORD, King of Heaven and Earth, Creator of the Universe Who loves us so much in spite of our own brokenness, weakness, imperfection and sin. We express our deepest desire to be with You. We endeavour to try our very best to be holy. May Your Most Perfect Will be done, now and forever. We come to You, in Jesus' Name and with The Guidance of Your Holy Spirit. Alleluia. Amen.
Thank God for Father Mike! Father Mike is a Saint! If it wasn't for Father Mike I would not understand the Bible. 51 years old and this is my first time understanding. I have been a Catholic my entire life. I would just read randomly through bible but it was so complicated I thought. The way Father Mike explains and teaches makes this bible in a year so fun! And Rewarding God Bless You Father Mike. I'm trying to get to heaven to see my Mom and Grandma again I miss them so
"God can acrually bring about a phenomenally greater good even when we choose evil.. God can make something beautiful out if what's broken." Thank you Fr. Mike.❤
The podcast has been quite the gift, I just had to cremate my dog and this has really helped me take my mind off of it. I've been praying and praying for my mom, my dog, the people in Ohio, and I really think when the world is as dark as it is, having something like this bringing people closer to God is very important. I'm extremely grateful, thank you Lord, and thank you Father Mike.
Saint in the making Fr. Mike: you, all those in holy orders, all those doing the bible in a year, and all those doing the catechism in a year are in my daily prayers as well as for an increase in holy vocations.
This story about Tamar is confusing to me. As I've read this several times, I realized that God's intentions of procreation was clearly on display..human sexuality is so twisted and even from the beginning there's deception and brokenness..Lord help us navigate through this process and learn how to grow your kingdom on earth..prayers for all who are with us..
Thank you Fr Mike I’m going thru the bible the third time and also shared the podcast with others Going thru the bible has changed my life and the way I think Praise the lord Thank you Jesus God bless Fr Mike
Thank you, Fr. Mike! This brings me joy as I learn more about Job. Sometimes I feel I am the female version of Job. Through all my sorrow and sadness, Jesus is there. The Blessed Mother holds me. I lost one of my sons in a car accident. He turned 33 two months before he died. That was September 22, 2017. I lost my husband, father of our 4 sons, on March 5, 2021, due to pancreatic cancer. I am faithful and strong. My hope is in the Lord. I long for my son and husband, but some day we will be together. Thank you for all you do for the people of God!
My heart goes out for you my sister Jackie. The Lord is your strength. You are in my prayers. May Our Mother Mary who knew what it is to loose a son and husband continue to intercede for you and the rest members of your family. Amen.
Jackie Gods peace be with you. . The only place I find soothing for my soul is in the presence of God. You are carrying a very heavy cross . God tells us to come to him ,he will give us rest and he really means it personally to you and me Jackie 💖🙏
Same. The first time I just allowed myself to just be in His presence. This time I’m taking notes & paying more attention to what God is saying specifically to me
Thank you Father Mike for being a faithful servant of God and giving us yet another encouraging message, as we live in a broken world our brokenness can be made beautiful
"NOTHING GIVEN TO GOD IS EVER WASTED." Wow Amen to that. Thank you Fr. Mike for your inspirational reflection. God bless you and thank you for your prayers, be assured of our prayers as well.
Father Mike. Thank you so much for your commentary afterwards. In fact, I wouldn't mind even a longer commentary. You are so informative. Initially, after hearing the messiness, I wondered why these books are even part of our scripture, but you help make sense of things.
Hi father Mike. My second year going through bible in a year, with your lovely self ,and all the other people in the community. God bless all and I pray for God's peace in you all. Well this chapter is interesting to say the least. Jesus family line ancestors were just day to day people that I could meet down the street. That is just wonderful. Jesus is wonderful, Magnificent, Saviour. This Bible in a year with Father Mike explanation is the highlight of my day.
February 5, 2023 Round Two The second time around is so much better! I may go a third time, though, to have a deeper understanding. Anyone out there on round three? How is it for you?
The brokenness that is the theme throughout, it seems, is shocking, but it sure gives me some relief. Nothing God gives is ever wasted. The crooked straight lines are beautiful!
Wow, this explanation is the best yet! Looking back at the sins of my life, sometimes I feel so disgusting and awful. This story makes me feel so much better especially realizing that this is actually Jesus' lineage. Thank God!
I am loving the daily readings. This makes it so much easier to stick with. I learn by seeing AND hearing. So this is great for me! I just wish there were no commercials in the middle of the readings. 😬🤦🏻♀️

“God can make something good from something broken”🙏🏾❤️🙏🏾 “O Lord, thou art my God; I will exalt thee, I will praise thy name; for thou hast done wonderful things, plans formed of old, faithful and sure.” Isaiah 25:1
Thank you Father Mike. Haven't read this before from the point of "brokenness" which we all know. The thought of it makes me very sad, but I take joy in knowing forgiveness is possible.
Thank you for sharing this and show that Jesus had a broken family like most of us and God brought good out of it and he will for us also. Praying for everyone
Lord, We praise you for using broken people, like us, to accomplish your will. Help us to rest in you, be patient and take courage when life doesn’t seem fair. 🙏🏻
Proverbs 3 : 28 - 32 Advice for the Young 28 - Never tell your neighbors to wait until tomorrow if you can help them now. 29 - Don't plan anything that will hurt your neighbors ; they live beside you, trusting you. 30 - Don't argue with others for no reason when they have never done you any harm. 31 - Don't be jealous of violent people or decide to act as they do, 32 - because the Lord hates people who do evil, but He takes righteous people into His confidence. I learned a lot today. I knew of this reproductive sin but never looked it up in the Bible. Now, I can refer people:)
Father Mike. Thank you so much for your commentary afterwards. In fact, I wouldn't mind even a longer commentary. You are so informative. Initially, after hearing the messiness, I wondered why these books are even part of our scripture, but you help make sense of things.
My brokenness and crooked lines in my life were made straight when I gave all to God. Thank you Fr. Mike...God bless you.

I am loving the daily readings. This makes it so much easier to stick with. I learn by seeing AND hearing. So this is great for me!
I just wish there were no commercials in the middle of the readings. 😬🤦🏻♀️
At least the commercials generally mark the moment between the scripture and the commentary so it’s not too jarring
Judah married a Canaanite which probably wasn't a good idea, is this why trouble occurred? then we have that strange story of the twins, the red wristband, presumably marked for the first born blessing, then the other twin gets born first ! I honestly think there is a deeper meaning behind all this detail, can't figure this one out though. I actually did a study of the Jacob /Rachel story, did not put most of it on here, but came up with some interesting ideas, whether I am accurate or not who knows, but we are told to meditate on the word, so I did with surprising results!

31 - Don't be jealous of violent people or decide to act as they do,
32 - because the Lord hates people who do evil, but He takes righteous people into His confidence.
