This is what it means for music to be in perfect balance. The deeper Drum is introduced first, then the faster Guzheng. The focus is on the Guzheng but the Drum is essential for setting a beat and pacing, as well as acting as a counter to the higher pitch. When the Drum pauses and the Guzheng does a solo, It's really obvious in the way the Drum comes back. Every note and pause has It's place. This is what it means for music to be in perfect balance.

She is absolutely shredding on that thing! It sounds different than guitar shredding but it’s got a similar soul. This instrument is an ancient ancestor of the guitar so it makes sense that this is how they’d shred back then. I wonder if there were ancient Chinese mosh pits

Most of the time I don't mind being incredibly poor, but this is one of those moments where I really, really wish I massively rich, just so I could go out and buy a guzheng on a whim. I don't really know anything about them, I'd probably never learn how to play it, but I'd like to just have one sitting in my house that I could pluck every now and then. I really love the heavy plucked sound and the way the note can be altered by pressing the strings. Such an evocative sound.
My parents would kill me if I brought this home XD It would take quite a bit of saving, but they would say “WHY DID YOU GET ANOTHER INSTRUMENT! YOU ALREADY HAVE ENOUGH” but I play because I enjoy it, every last one of my instruments gets love. Except the violin..... someone gave that to me

You can buy guzheng for like 60 dollars or even less, though. That's honestly peanut money even if you're not from US. Sure, it won't be what would be Stradivarius in China, but it's enough to learn to play or hang it on a wall.

A joy to watch and listen, truly amazing music...started an interest in Chinese culture after learning as an adult my grandmother was Chinese/Vietnamese, I believe it was left undisclosed most of my early life due to them growing up during the Vietnam War....it has been one of the most rewarding discoveries for me :)

I believe this wouldn't be as hard as it looks. It's probably quite difficult, but each cord appears to make a consistent sound based on where you pluck it without the use of frets. That allows for much faster playing as long as you've taken the time to learn and memorize how every spot sounds, since you don't have to wear your hand out rapidly switching to precise frets like you would with a guitar.

Most of the time I don't mind being incredibly poor, but this is one of those moments where I really, really wish I massively rich, just so I could go out and buy a guzheng on a whim. I don't really know anything about them, I'd probably never learn how to play it, but I'd like to just have one sitting in my house that I could pluck every now and then. I really love the heavy plucked sound and the way the note can be altered by pressing the strings. Such an evocative sound.

A joy to watch and listen, truly amazing music...started an interest in Chinese culture after learning as an adult my grandmother was Chinese/Vietnamese, I believe it was left undisclosed most of my early life due to them growing up during the Vietnam War....it has been one of the most rewarding discoveries for me :)

权 is the name of Sun Quan(孙权), not Power.
The translation really don't do the lyrics justice, sorry for my English. I know it takes efforts to translate, but the beautiful meaning of it was lost in the translation. Culture gap is too big. Still, thank you.

@@nomnom739 newbie? I've used my mouth to learn guitar for almost 5 years and I still haven't bought one to begin with. So I say newbie is awesome
I believe this wouldn't be as hard as it looks. It's probably quite difficult, but each cord appears to make a consistent sound based on where you pluck it without the use of frets. That allows for much faster playing as long as you've taken the time to learn and memorize how every spot sounds, since you don't have to wear your hand out rapidly switching to precise frets like you would with a guitar.

My favorite traditional musics are the chinese and celtic ones (probably because I'm from a very celtic rooted part of the world). Guzheng really is one beautiful instrumen, I'm even planning to buy one soon :)
Chinese and Celtic music has similar music instruments and also 5 tone scale music systems. There are guesses that the ancient Celtic and Chinese people were related or living closely.
