Endangered seal gives birth in Hawaii

An endangered monk seal has been born on a beach in Hawaii.
As a result, the public has been asked to find a different location to swim for the next few weeks.
The request to avoid the beach is to give the mother and pup space to nurse.
“We can confirm that we have a brand new Hawaiian monk seal pup,” Oahu Marine Wildlife Response Coordinator Kilali Gibson said.
“Hawaiian monk seals are one of the most endangered seal species in the entire world and they’re only found here in Hawaii.”
