exactly, if they really put 45 W fast charging in an iPhone, they would say in the keynote with a fancy graphic telling how fast charges the new iPhone.
Even though there was not such a big change in the battery, it is still one of the best in the world. Let's just hope that in the next it will increase the charge to the same ones as the competition
There is NO 45W charging. Who said that? Where? I’m surprised tough with the new magsafe charger (supposed 25w) getting behind the 20w charger just like the old 15w magsafe. Maybe a software issue?
Hey thanks for sharing this. I appreciate true benchmarks done in person. So, if you were offered the IPhone 15 or 16 Pro Max in a 1TB which would you choose? Seems like the upgrades to the 16 PM aren’t worth it with charging but maybe that’s just me. Thanks friend.
Allegedly the iPhone can take up to around 35-40w, but it only does so when charging during heavy use. my guess is that battery input is limited to ~20w, the remaining power will only be used to power the phone itself
I am more interested how did you drain their batteries since I looked at the clocks and at the start of the first test it was 4:22 and the last test ended at 9:30 and the date didn't change! 5 hours for 3 charging tests? How did you drain them?
Did you mix the phones for the test or used the same phone for each one. Just trying to figure out why the 30W would charge better than the 45W. Maybe build quality for the pro of the 45W is off?
I may have missed it but are you using the new MagSafe charger that Apple claims will output 25 watts vs. the previous MagSafe that only gets 15 watts? Please let me know. Wait I watched the entire video is using the 25 watt MagSafe so should I just stick with my old MagSafe chargers previously offered by Apple?
I tried charging my iPhone 16 with a new MagSafe (Qi2) charger hooked up to a 60 watt brick, and it was far slower than when I plugged it into the USB-C in the back of my Mac Mini, which I think only puts out 15 watts. The MagSafe just seems very inconsistent with the iPhone 16. Sometimes, I've left it on there for 30 to 45 minutes, and the charge number hardly changes. And then sometimes, it charges pretty fast. I'm beginning to wonder if it has something to do with the beta iOS 18.1 on my phone.
Saw the whole video but certainly I am still baffled whether to 30W apple brick with the usb cable they provide or buy an MagSafe wire which apple provides . Any suggestions will be appreciated
That voltmeter is limmiting your charging since the IPhone don't recognize the chip on the oem cable it will restrict charging at 12w max !! try without the meter and you'll see !
What cable are you using.I heard the included braided cables are not as fast? Apple did say 45watt fast charge.Your 45 watt charger is not going max out to fully 45watt.I think you need a charger that is over 45watt to give you the full 45watt.
interesting video, my pro max receives a consistent 29w on the low end and 31w on the high end with spikes of high as 39w charging from 20% battery. I’ll plug my Z-Power in tonight to see if i can replicate because it’s very interesting to see the way you tested these devices. I’ve mostly used the power leaving my powerbank to test these numbers.
Did you turn off optimized battery setting? As it often slow down charging. Else it just the normal where from 80-100% it want to slow down the heat to protect the battery long term Also imagine if the MagSafe had a cooling system it could be faster
Hi from Brazil! I loved the video! Can U test the new Apple magsafe charger and compare to the Qi2? I have the Qi standard, Qi2 and the old Magsafe charger, but the Qi2 get so hot!!! So I wanna know if this new product is good and runs cool. If possible, show the temperature in Celsius too.
unless I'm reading it wrong, all your 3 wired chargers are all within ~20W when = 30W > MagSafe > 20W I think you should check more related articles more about different type of chargers (and its USB protocols and how sucks that different manufacturers use different protocols), and also its charging cables, before making this type of video.
Cool test but why wasn’t the iPhone w the 45W charging not on Do Not Disturb mode like the others? I’d imagine that’d impact the performance, at least a bit.
the iphone 16 line supports 45 watts of charging speed on a hardware level and it will be available when ios 18.1 launches in 2 weeks. i got my iphone 16 pro yesterday and i got the new 25w apple puck and it's definitely charging my phone faster bc i used a 30w brick and it took 35min to bring my phone from 1% to 50%. The iphone 16 pro was charging as fast as the iphone 15 but wireless and for me that'a a big leap.
Can someone please confirm whether the best choice would be to choose a 20W adapter or a 30W adapter? I'm confused as some are saying 20W is what's reauired and some saying 30 W is what's needed for better charging. Please help.
so why does the display on the wattage meter show a variable of 9w to 11w of charging on the iPhone 16 PRO? Those meters look a bit faulty across all phones testing is done incorrectly. There is no 45w charging on iPhone
I was thinking of buying an anker 30w adapter because no way I’m paying $40 for an apple one but after this video I’ll just stick with the 20w Apple one I’ve been using
Testing Using MacBook charger and cable with indicator ..my IP 16Pro caps at 7W while on the MacBook hits around 30w and my Leica caps at 10W…. Why so low on the 16Pro
Apple never claimed anything about 45w charging. Apple China confirmed amperage and wattage of the 16 Pro batteries which translated to 45W peak capability. But, rumored tests with more powerful than 45W chargers and GOOD cables showed around 39W. Apple is likely limiting the charging speed a little to avoid quicker battery wear. Matt Talks Tech showed MagSafe hitting 18W and MagSafe 2 hitting 26W and even higher.
Interesting results. I charge overnight, typically get up at 6am, plug in when I get in the car (wired CarPlay), it’s 9:42pm and I’m on 59%. How are you guys killing your phones so quickly? I’d say I’m a mid to high user depending on the day.
Who charges their phones with the screen on unless they absolutely have to use the phone? No one because they overheat and that throttle‘s charging. You can’t do it charging test with the screens on.

I solved this with the Vionentus Elites, which are made of leather and do not affect wireless charging

The only thing Apple claimed is that the iPhone 16 now won’t drain when charging while gaming. It can draw up to 38W while gaming and charging.
