Thanks man! I really appreciate it:)
I think I've got a lot of work to do on my technique, but I'm happy with where I am now. The best thing I can recommend is to find a true passion in music and the guitar itself, so that playing doesn't feel like a chore, but as something fun and rewarding. That will make the whole experience feel right and also make you play the guitar for several hours a day, which in my opinion is the most essential factor for building technique - the amount of time you spend on it. As for general tips about technique- you want to make sure every movement you make is minimal and easy, so that you won't tire off or injure yourself by playing complicated parts. Guthrie Govan has lots of great videos on various parts of technique, for example - alternate picking.
      Good luck in your journey:)

@@rainr6 About building up speed - don't rush the process. Playing fast parts perfectly takes lots of hours in practice, Tim & Scott weren't born with their abilities - they grinded through their entire lives and played endlessly to get to where they're at. My general tip for playing fast is to play everything slowly but CORRECTLY, and gradually picking up from there. You got to love what you're hearing - which is what you're playing. You can use a metronome if you like it, but I was never a fan of it and very sporadically used one.
Polyphia's music is very complex, and I wouldn't recommend to start with it. They incorporate lots of different techniques in their playing, and each one of those techniques takes weeks/months to master. This could make you feel as if you're progressing very slowly and hinder your experience with guitar in general.
You can try to do what I did - try playing music that you like to hear but is technically easier, and progressively build your abilities from there. My entire technical progression can be seen from the beginning of this youtube channel 8 years ago - I started with really easy pieces and gradually gravitated towards more technical guitar music. Hope that helps :)

@@rainr6 Hey man, I just stumbled upon this video again, and I wondered how you're doing. How is your playing? Do you think you've progressed since last year?

How do you like the Strandberg?

Hey Carlos! I actually bought it because I needed an 8-string.
It absolutely kills and for an 8-string, it's the best one you can get out there.
Perfect tuning stability, lightweight and very playable despite the extra strings
