i really appreciate how ada empathizes with mon, her feelings, and her actions. mon gets criticized a lot by fans for not understanding where sam's coming from, for not wanting to get married at first, for not wanting to fight anymore, not wanting to go with sam to confront grandma, wanting to break up, etc. but honestly, mon's feelings of fear and insecurity are so valid, considering nothing about her relationship with sam has been smooth sailing since the beginning. she has been gaslit, guilt-tripped, and threatened by everyone in sam's life (including sam herself sometimes) and at some point, it's 100% understandable that mon reaches her limit and doesn't want to stay in such a toxic environment. she's literally so sad sometimes. if i were mon, i would've left a long time ago to save some semblance of self-value. mon is too nice and is a people pleaser. props to ada for vouching for mon and validating her feelings!
TRUE! I don’t understand those people hating mon because they wanted mon to be angry at sam when she told her that she needs to marry kirk. The reason why their relationship remained in the first place is because mon is understanding. Mon knows how important Sam’s grandma is to her and her, being born from a good family, wouldn’t want a family relationship to be destroyed because of her. Mon didn’t want to pressure Sam just like what Kirk and Grandma is doing. She’s just really at a loss on what to do.
Crazy, I actually dont understand how people cannot see perspectives from both ends. Do they make mistakes, absolutely but the decisions they both take comes from a genuine place and the way they grew up, and they both love each other so much and this makes them at times do things or react badly. What drew me to this series is how relatable these 2 characters are especially for us who come from conservative societies
i'm not done yet with the video but i HAD to comment on one thing no one talks about, which was when Sam suggested to Mon that they continue to date in secret while she marries Kirk, Sam is half expecting Mon to say no. She even says "its okay if you can't accept this" but Mon says yes. And afterwards is when you FINALLY see Sam cry. Telling that whole story about how grandmother is forcing her to marry kirk, she keeps a straight face, but it isn't until Mon accepts her ridiculous and unfair condition to date in secret that Sam breaks down crying. she was prepared for Mon to leave her, but she couldn't tell her to leave, she had to ask one more time if she would stay, and Mon saying yes was what broke her
wait i can't stop, and the next scene, i'm finally understanding the significance. sam approaching the bed with her arms crossed, and unfolding them in front of mon, was her last layer of protection going down, and becoming truly vulnerable to mon. even tho at the moment mon made this huge sacrifice, sam was the one who felt indebted. the framing of the shot with mon on the bed (like a pedestal) and sam almost kneeling before her? aside from the fact its terrible and cruel for mon to have to keep her love a secret, and be basically the mistress to someone else's marriage, it would also put sam in a terrible position. making her feel eternally indebted to mon. relationships shouldn't be scales with favors we owe each other weighing down each side. its a good thing they didn't do that for both Mon AND Sam because it would be unfair to both of them.

@@tinathena17 i so appreciate this XD i'm just a nerd obsessed with little details. all in all, the series was so unserious. it was just meant to be fun and silly but sometimes the photography was so beautiful, you know it was intentional, it's fun to point out those things PLUS... if i had my way, it would be a tad more serious, esp with sam, going into how most of how she handled their relationship and immaturity stemmed from being emotionally abandoned so young (dead parents, abusive grandma, dead sister, runaway sister)
@@tinathena17 we must go on then XD to be honest the thing I can't stop thinking about is Sam's childhood. Again, if the show was more of a drama, I think we'd get into it more. One thing that we kind of overlook, because Neung gets her hero moment in the end standing up to grandmother, is that, although it was necessary for Neung to leave, she left Sam behind. She knew that everything would fall onto Sam, esp after Song died, but she continued to keep her distance. The show doesn't villainize her for this, but esp as the oldest sister in my family, I simply couldn't do it. I can already see some responsibilities falling from me to my youngest sister and it pains me. She's even spoken to me about it, feeling its unfair, and feeling -when I was especially depressed- abandoned, to the whims of my parents. That's EXACTLY what happened to Sam. And her way of coping was super weird for sure lol, but that could also just hint at the fact that Sam was maybe a little neurodivergent, idk. Her friends said she was "weird" even back in high school. It's kind of unfortunate because you can see how her own friends, her sister, and even Kirk - to some extent - take advantage of that. They know being obedient and poised is the most important thing to her, so even though they also want the best for her, they will still push her when it suits their own needs (Kirk with the marriage, Neung asking for money -lol-, and her friends encouraging her to be w/Mon. which is a good thing in the long run, but they often push her by making fun of her and not giving her very helpful advice). The thing is. A lot of people deeply care for Sam in her life. But it's clear that most of them don't know HOW to care for her. The most impressive thing about Mon, isn't even that she understands Sam better. But that she INSPIRES Sam to be better. And that, at least for a while, she has the patience to wait for Sam to figure her shit out. As for Mon... I was less interested in her individually since she doesn't seem to have a dynamic arc. But if she did, it should have been standing up for herself more. She does at times, but then goes back on it. Which is realistic, but not satisfying. She needed a big moment. Instead of Sam abandoning her AGAIN bc her grandma went and gave herself an actual heart attack (lol), Mon should have left before then. Or even chosen to leave at that moment. That would've shown more development on her part. To know what she wants and walk away from it? Especially since, all her life she was loving Sam blindly, and doing everything in her power to be close to her. And now that she finally HAS Sam (sort of) she lets her go? It would have been more impactful if it was her choice. That truly loving someone, is understanding when you need to walk away from them, instead of loving them and following them blindly.

I like this part 24:55 because they didn't drink alcohol. It's the love they have for each other. That takes them to another world. And this moment was for Mon. Sam's appreciate ; that Mon will be with her.
Agree, yung execution ni Freen, damang-dama mo yung pagkagipit nya sa sitwasyon, the suffocation, halos 'di na sya makahinga, ganon din ako during the first time I watched the episode, parang 'di ako makahinga, ang bigat sa damdamin. But overall, ang galing nila lahat.
I think the reason they kept sending Yuki away is because she tends to say the worst possible outcome out loud. Like after Jim's wedding Sam kind of ghosted Mon and when the girls tried to cheer up Mon, Yuki commented that maybe Sam said yes to Kirk's proposal. So, to keep from upsetting Mon more over the Grandmother issue they sent Yuki for fruit and water.
My total meltdown was when Sam in the bedroom has her arms crossed and is mesmerized by Becky ...Oops! I mean Mon and then suddenly she slowly brings her arms down. She no longer feels the need to be shield in other words she accepts being vulnerable for Mon... Wow! Is a very small moment by lovely 😍. Thank ladies for the amazing emotional reaction.

first, i die at every sex scene, when something RLY spicy happens, and you guys immediately look away XD its so funny cuz we WANNA look but our reaction is to immediately turn away. its no longer gay panic its gay overload but my final point was, aside from all the insane manipulation sam's grandma does, sam truly does feel alone. if she chose mon, she'd be choosing mon over her entire family, because her grandma IS her entire family. Neung walked out on her -for her own happiness of course, but- she abandoned sam and song to their evil grandma. song is dead. and sam's parents died a long time ago. so she really only has her grandma. that's hard to walk away from no matter how evil she is and until Neung came to defend her (and she only came after Sam begged) Sam didn't really have that much incentive to leave her entire family behind for just Mon it also makes sense to me why Mon was shaking her head. of course she wants Sam, but again, just like its unfair for Mon to be Sam's sidepiece, its unfair for Sam to give up her family for Mon. Mon realizes that and doesn't want to force Sam to make that decision, but ultimately, it was the only thing she could do in the situation

Just wanna say regarding Yuki, I think they are portraying her as kinda airheaded(?) like may nasasabi syang bagay na di naman dapat in some situation or in simple words she can't read the room lol example na nung ep 7, the time Mon was crying kasi mafifired na sya ni Sam, sabi nya baka ikakasal na sila Kirk. So I felt like what they wanted to execute there is hindi sa they don't want her to know, it's more of a fact that she might say something that could potentially hurt Mon's feelings more and Tee wanted to avoid that by making her do something else? I wanna agree pero that is super rude if that’s the case. She has been Mon’s friend longer so most likely mas kilala nya yung friend nya kesa kena Tee/Jim. Also, from EP 12, we can see her sympathizing with Mon and even cried with her so she knows how to comfort Mon and they do have some understanding on that level. If I was Yuki, I would feel really offended if my gf and best friend tries to remove me in a conversation without telling me that she would like to not hear my opinions instead. Agree, yung execution ni Freen, damang-dama mo yung pagkagipit nya sa sitwasyon, the suffocation, halos 'di na sya makahinga, ganon din ako during the first time I watched the episode, parang 'di ako makahinga, ang bigat sa damdamin. But overall, ang galing nila lahat.
I think the reason they kept sending Yuki away is because she tends to say the worst possible outcome out loud. Like after Jim's wedding Sam kind of ghosted Mon and when the girls tried to cheer up Mon, Yuki commented that maybe Sam said yes to Kirk's proposal. So, to keep from upsetting Mon more over the Grandmother issue they sent Yuki for fruit and water.

first, i die at every sex scene, when something RLY spicy happens, and you guys immediately look away XD its so funny cuz we WANNA look but our reaction is to immediately turn away. its no longer gay panic its gay overload
but my final point was, aside from all the insane manipulation sam's grandma does, sam truly does feel alone. if she chose mon, she'd be choosing mon over her entire family, because her grandma IS her entire family. Neung walked out on her -for her own happiness of course, but- she abandoned sam and song to their evil grandma. song is dead. and sam's parents died a long time ago. so she really only has her grandma. that's hard to walk away from no matter how evil she is
and until Neung came to defend her (and she only came after Sam begged) Sam didn't really have that much incentive to leave her entire family behind for just Mon
it also makes sense to me why Mon was shaking her head. of course she wants Sam, but again, just like its unfair for Mon to be Sam's sidepiece, its unfair for Sam to give up her family for Mon. Mon realizes that and doesn't want to force Sam to make that decision, but ultimately, it was the only thing she could do in the situation
Yung confrontation with Grandma, alam na ni Mon na wala siyang laban lalo pa nung nakita niya na nag collapse yung matanda. Handa na siya mag give up eh, pero may point si Neung, hindi si Grandma ang happiness ni Sam, si Mon. Pero... Next EP na lang! ☺️
I think pinapaalis po nila si yuki sa convo kasi may history sya na magsabi ng wrong words like yung sa ep 7 na kinocomfort nila si mon kasi ni-fire sya ni sam, sabi ni yuki ay “what if sam will marry kirk for real” pero ginawa pa rin po nilang funny atmosphere yung pinapaalis nila si yuki. Di lang siguro naemphasize na may tendency na ganun si yuki haha

Just wanna say regarding Yuki, I think they are portraying her as kinda airheaded(?) like may nasasabi syang bagay na di naman dapat in some situation or in simple words she can't read the room lol example na nung ep 7, the time Mon was crying kasi mafifired na sya ni Sam, sabi nya baka ikakasal na sila Kirk. So I felt like what they wanted to execute there is hindi sa they don't want her to know, it's more of a fact that she might say something that could potentially hurt Mon's feelings more and Tee wanted to avoid that by making her do something else? But that's just my observation really...

I wanna agree pero that is super rude if that’s the case. She has been Mon’s friend longer so most likely mas kilala nya yung friend nya kesa kena Tee/Jim. Also, from EP 12, we can see her sympathizing with Mon and even cried with her so she knows how to comfort Mon and they do have some understanding on that level. If I was Yuki, I would feel really offended if my gf and best friend tries to remove me in a conversation without telling me that she would like to not hear my opinions instead.
