- White water rafting in Rishikesh is an amazing experience for people of all age groups. There are 4 starting points for rafting.

Brahmpuri - 9 kms with 3 rapids - 2 hours to complete
Shivpuri - 16 kms with 9 rapids - 3 hours to complete
Marine drive- 26 km with 13 rapids - 4 hours to complete
Kodiyala - 32 kms with 16 rapids. - 5 hours to complete
You may travel single and share rafting with others or if you are a group of 8 then you may book your own raft.
Tips on Rafting at Rishikesh, basis my experience:
Wear shorts and T shirt- avoid jeans.
Keep your purse and mobile in hotel.
Raft has a plastic bag with zip that prevents water from getting in.
Have food before you start rafting.
Ideal time to start rafting is 11 am or 12 noon.
Follow the instructions of Guide to prevent any accident, Jackets
prevent fatal accident but i fell into Double trouble rapid and despite knowing swimming i had a tough time.
Rafting closes from end june to July as water pressure is high.
You can ask you rafting service provider to help you with Go pro camera clips, for which he will charge extra but with that it will be a memory.
Best time to go for rafting is between March to June.
Modes of travel:
Railhead: Rishikesh, but i will suggest you travel through Haridwar.
Nearest airport: Jollygrant.
Distance between Rishikesh and Haridwar is 25 kms.
Book for rafting in advance if you are travelling during week ends, otherwise you may have to face disappointment.

Harish ji, I experienced Rafting in Jayalgadh ( uttarakhand) with class 4 rapids long ago in 2008.
It was out of the world experience. Everyone must experience trekking and rafting at least once in a lifetime.
We did it in uttarakhand from Jayalgadh to Dev prayag. 20 kms in alaknanda river.
Phenomenal.
Maze aa gaye the.
Humko raft wale bhaiya ne training di thi half an hour.
Fir wo bina bataye humko pane me dakka de ta tha(only for swimmers) and then we would have to reach till raft rope swimming by ourselves.
Par aj b jab wo moment yaad karte hai, it's just fantastic.

gr8, we too started from Shivpuri and I think the guide was the same Napali guy you had. We were 2 and there were 4 foreigners with us. Our dingy turned upside down in the rapid and for few seconds we didnt know where we were. But each of us were safe. We went there in 2012 and it was a worth remembering sport.
One more thing I would like to inform that we felt very tired after doing it so better have a early sleepy and dont plan much for the evening.
you are so right, after rafting - one should not plan something in evening or early morning, it takes up lot of energy.

Have a look at it, there are couple of things i am covering- Kunjapuri temple for sun rise, Arti@parmarth, Vashisht Gufa, Nara Kunti bridge, Neer water fall, Bungee jump, Laxman Jhulla, Ram Jhulla etc.

yes - more the better. In fact i mentioned about 16 kms because - my guide was saying that 50 percent of people who come to Rishikesh prefer to do 7 kms,
but there is hardly one rapid there.... you are right - for a life time experience one should go for marine drive 25 kms.... thanks for revert.

thanks, i can share Ballu's mobile number with you-9411553765... person you saw in the video towards the end. I have a tip here- Ballu is one man show, he is a good guys, friendly but it's advised if you can book through a company.
I mean a bigger setup, if something goes wrong with the any crew member, there are alternates available. hope you get the point. Difference in cost will be low. You can just google it about river rafting, you will get to see many good setups through their website.

It will be closed during that time due to high water pressure, i am not sure of the date when it opens, you can speak to any organiser of this service he will tell you

Life jacket se safe rahte h. Swimming nhi bhi ata to bhi rafting k maza le sakte h. Mujhe bhi swimming nhi ati thi. Maine bhi 110km ki rafting ki thi tanakpur m. Bahut jyada maza aya

Rs 2200, There are 2 options when it comes to recording..
A. You pay Rs 2200 or so to a professional, who gets his people standing at few rapid points and they make a 4 or 5 minute video, do the edit and give a Cd to you.
B. Pay for Go pro to raft operator. No fixed price for that- somebody charges Rs 500 , somebody charges Rs 1000 , its all demand and supply based.
C. Third option if you really want something real and may be objective is to put it in youtube then go for combination of A and B.

Rs 700 per person 7 kms... it depends upon season you are travelling.... plus if group is large size they can offer discounts...
i will suggest you to go for a company that offers rafting service then to go for individuals... as enough safety is needed along
