So....I have to say Josh I watch Jake's videos and just came across this video and I have to tell you that I am very impressed with your work ethic and drive. Most pipeline welders I know would have probably drug up and said I'm not going to stick around for this kind of work. But you are humble enough to understand that even a job like that could afford you another opportunity to work. You just never know who's watching your work and spreading the word out that you are willing to go the extra mile to get the work done. Very impressed with your work. Keep it up 👍.

I'm very tempted to pack up my truck and tools and drive to Colorado I've got a few odds and ends to figure out but I will for sure be there soon. Probably going to start as a helper but looking to test and breakout.
I have found over the years handles to be an impediment to safe pipeline work . they can and do put users in compromising positions especially inexperienced helpers as Joshua's . 180 degree stationary guards to . In Canada on pipeline OH&S rules allow for 120 degree guards . The 120 degrees avoids grinder angles that cause kick backs . When you put a land on ,the grinder should be used in one long stroke starting at about 10 oclock going clock wise till you reach 7:30 then another long stroke from 11oclock anti clock wise to 7:00 . This is the way you get uniformity . I'm not saying don't use handles because in some situations they are a must . Also when you have to grind with sparks flying into your face shield you are in a compromising position . I have seen a guy from a distance that was in a hurry to do a job, with grinder with guard and handle that jammed and kicked back knocked his face shield off and he come close to cutting his nose off. You have come a long way Joshua since starting with jake
Having welders and helpers doing ends is expensive , having a laborer with a generator and grinder is more cost effective . To bad you are hobbled with the handle and 180 degree guard on the grinder OH&S up here allows 120 guards for pipe up here Canada . good show joshua

awesome videos. if a guy had a welding truck all set up with gear could he be a helper for a year or two to learn the trade and then take the test? would it make any sense to have you own rig as a helper other than to practice at night maybe?
ive got the truck and a bunch of welders. just need to plan the right time for a career change. weldings a hobby for now, a very expensive hobby with all those blue welders
When the dozer was climbing onto the lowboy, and you said you would totally destroy a trailer if you did that.........Well that dumb ass operator IS destroying that trailer while the even dumber ass driver is watching. could you cut 3/4 of the guard off? leave like a 1" wide sliver. Its still a guard ;)
