    people like to complain on a live for 2 hours about it being ebay's fault, they could just listen to this video that takes half the time and fix their business, thank you for this. Listened to this while packing up my orders, this is the content that will actually change your business and maybe your life. You are what the reselling community needs. This will get results in businesses and that is what we all want. The truth about what someone is doing that is hurting them they dont always take to kindly to. Thank you again. Gotta save this one and relisten on the road.

    This is what I call a dad talk. I started eBay 2000 selling handmade 1840s clothing. It wasn’t till 2011 I actually sold used clothing items. Left eBay for several years and came back in 2017 and was shocked at how much easier it is to list and sell. Yes things have changed since COVID but it’s still a wonderful platform and I’m back full time. Listening to your vids and working hard. I live just a few miles away from that reseller in Wyoming. It’s nothing for us to travel and thrift 12-15 hours and 500 miles for products. Winter slows us down

    Great podcast as always, Tech - I have totally revamped my approach to eBay after listening to you over the last several years. The most profound advice you ever gave, in my view, is to treat eBay as a “money-multiplier”. Nowhere else can you turn $5 into $25, $30 or $35 within an extremely short period of time - and you can do it over and over again at the rate you choose to! Thank you for opening my eyes!

    The way I view the relationship between eBay and sellers is this: Sellers are eBay's CLIENTS. As a seller, I am paying eBay for a SERVICE. That is, they provide a platform on which I conduct my business. I do not expect eBay to give me sales, nor do I blame them when my sales are slow. I do, however, hold eBay accountable for poor customer service (customer being the seller) and when their platform does not work properly. After all, I am PAYING eBay for use of their service, and I expect it to function properly. If it does not work properly, they should be held accountable in the same way a seller is held accountable by a buyer for not delivering a product as expected. eBay has a lot of work to do in the customer service area, but overall the platform is quite good.

    • @technsports
      @technsports  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Valid points.
      Counter statement. When AT&T went down for the morning a month or so ago, did we get a credit?
      There's also plenty of verbiage in the TOS for ebay that if things aren't working then we are to understand that. So since we signed those TOS & we voluntarily list on the platform, then by default we are agreeing to these things.
      I do agree with your sentiment.
      But unfortunately, we signed up for their rules & signed up for their site.

    Tech, man, this was awesome! EXACTLY what I needed to hear today. I just joined the group. Still learning how to navigate it and get the info I need, but enjoying what I have heard and learned thus far. You are truly a blessing to this community. I need to go through all my listings again and price them what they're worth. 🖐🏾 I'm guilty for pricing things at what I think they should sell for and not their best price point. I also was a person who sold bad items. Now I am learning what items are good. Need to find the zip code call and see where to buy good stuff. I do have one place 30mins from me and a couple other places 2hrs away, but I'm sure there's more. God bless and keep living out your purpose! ✌🏾

    I want to thank you for putting this video out and being a calm voice of reason. Coming from someone who is as successful on eBay as you are it carries so much weight and credibility. Most of the struggles are mental and are directed at eBay because so many things that happen on the platform no one ever gets answers from eBay. I'll just keep moving forward doing the best I can do increasing the bank account and worry less about eBay behind the scenes. In my opinion this is the single best and most helpful video you have ever put out . Im now planning on traveling 3+ hours out of state to a huge flea market and am going to crush it. Thanks again!

    I actually said something similar to my husband last night. Certainly in the UK reseller community there are so many people using all of their energy focusing on being angry at EBay. They spend time on social media ranting, nitpicking everything they don’t like about EBay (or haven’t understood]. I stay off during the day and work hard on my business. Others are complain img they have no sales, mine are great right now. We are in EBay’s playground, it’s there rules.

      1000% same for Shipping buyer Knows what shipping is going into the sale if they buy it they should not be allowed to Rate shipping as well if they don't like the shipping don't buy it buyers have responsibilities and they are being treated by the websites (platforms) like they don't have any

    40:39 100% tech its simple finance i also try to explain this to all on as many YT channels as i can in the comments and lives i learned this 25 years ago when i started in 98' if i purchased 100 books for .25 and sold 20 id go out and buy 20 more for .25 each and keep the profit rinse and repeat thing is also to buy what you already sold (if you can find more) because if its sold once it will sell twice and thrice and more. also i have always said reselling in general be it online or off line is the best bank in the world what bank can you put $5 in and 90 days or 6 months later come back and have $25 Or more waiting for you to take out?? i have not found a bank like that yet! and how i have looked at reselling for 25 years its a bank with the best returns (or bank terminology interest)

    One more comment Please. Ebay takes 40% of my sales plus I pay addional 4 to 5 dollars for shipping labels. I wish my fee was 12.9% but my fee is 15% plus 10% promoted., it averages at 35 to 40% plus shipping label after ebay takes their money. My margins are terrible cause I just cannot find jewelry for free. The average thrift store price for earrings is 4 to 5 dollars. Customers want them for 1 to 2 dollars. I have to promote high or no sales. I have tried lowering the rate but sales go down as well. No matter how low I list an item for customers want more discounts. I continue to do this because I have to have some money coming in, (elderly and disabled) I do this to supplement social security. As for the items listed , nothing is junk, everything is beautiful or a popular name brand.I check my listings daily and check to make sure I have the right catagory, best titles.etc. Honestly I do not know what to do, I cannot keep losing money like this.

    • @technsports

    I was around when eBay lost all the photos on my listings, that was such a pain! There was actually a way to pull the photos off an archive site and reload them, thats what I did back then.

    • @JMidwestern
      @JMidwestern 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Scavenger Life posted about how to find the old photos by searching your item number and then clicking a drop down menu that would take you to an archived version of the listing that still had the photos! I remember it so well because I had to do it at least a hundred times. It was a lot of easier than retaking photos though.Thank goodness for the Scavenger Life community back then.

    Issues past few weeks: Impressions keep going down past 10 days, with no reason. The search is horrible. This week incorrect listed addresses for the buyers April 7 - 18, many received an email. Changing the shipping to now make visible the actual shipping amount to buyer (option to opt out). Website constant issues. Fees go up. But everything is hunky dory. We just keep listing daily, good selling turnaround items and hope for the best.

    I strongly believe the feedback system on ebay should be abolished. It's not helpful for buyers or sellers, and wastes too much energy.

    • @technsports
      @technsports  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      It's antiquated. Probably just a number up or down.
      You did 100 sales, 98 were successful, 2 were not. You get a score of 98. You do a good sale, you go to 99. Do a bad sale, go to 97.

    Sometimes the number of views could be important. Recently I listed about 5 items on the same day. 3days later zero views on any of them. They were items that should have received views. I suspected they were not being seen so I ended them and relisted under sell similar. And within 5 minutes I had views.Ebay has told me several times that it takes at least 24 hours for a listing to go live. But this is not always true. But it is worth checking out.

    34:37 100% tech and something i have been trying to each others on YT and FB i tell them for example if your goal is 90 day STR and you pick up items with that STR and you list every day say 50 items those 50 you listed on day one should realistically sell by day 90 and the 50 you listed on day 2 should sell by day 91 and so on and so on and if you are consistent in listing every day if you can do this 365 days Eventually you will have items selling EVERY day and no matter what anyone says the law of averages the more you list the more you will sell like you said that is why media sellers have to list 1000's to millions because its slower STR but if your listing everyday even with a 12 month STR if you list everyday after that 365th day if you list on day 366 those items you listed on day 1 of 365 should have sold by day 366 its like a hamster wheel it just keeps going around and around its very simple math the more you have listed the more chances your Key words in your titles are to hit when buyers do searches

    Mercari's search results are horrible, listings get lost and never get a chance to get seen on the feed. This hurts both shoppers and sellers. They need to make a big change on what and how listings get generated into the feed. I understand its impossible to display every single listing on the first feed but many listings that do come up whether key word or advanced search is not relevant. If they fix this , it will allow more matches to come up on the first feed and allow buyers to find items more often.

      I was doing Online arbitrage in 2001 i have used SNIPPING software on eBay about that long as well so yeah its 2024 to all those late to the game i say where have you been for 23 years that You all need to up your game! it is how i heavily built my inventory over 25 years was/is via online arbitrage, granted shipping was cheaper (i could get lots of 100 figures Or 100 Video Games) and have them shipped for like $10-15 via Parcel Post! because if you were not selling back 20-25 years ago back then actually up till about 2018-2019 shipping rates were only based on distance and weight NOT size (especially first class mail) but right around 2020 when DEjoy took over the USPS they started to make Postage Rates based on 3 things Distance Weight and DIMENSIONS prior to that Unless it was an oversized package dimensions did not play much if any role in postage costs Like they do today

    1000% tech! its called Buyer responsibilities THEY 1000% have responsibilities just like if a buyer bids and wins its a LEGAL BINDING CONTRACT so same thing if you have measurements for anything not just clothing and state measurements in the description and condition notes its the BUYERS responsibility to read that before hitting that BIN button same thing if your selling for example a digital camera and its just the camera and battery only and you state that in the description the title and condition note ITS THE BUYERS responsibility to read ALL three areas if they use that BIN button they are agreeing that they read and understood. i know a lot especially new sellers do not care about there feedback they do not think it means anything anymore I'm from the old school I care A HUGE amount about my Feedback it was a badge of privilege back in the day to have 100% and we should not be hurt by buyers who do not do there Responsibility as a buyer. I mean there investing in AI they can then make AI see if there is Measurements in a listing multiple places and someone leaves negative or tries to leave negative about Measurements the system should not even allow that buyer to leave that negative kinda like how if your going to list a duplicate listing the system will trigger something and it wont let you list that item because its a duplicate

I know listing daily and being consistent with it generates sales through the week but always wondered how many per day because that Chris refinement guy keeps stating that you need to list 100+ daily in order to get sales but wouldn't that advice possibly lead to failure for smaller businesses that is limited on space.
