Adding in case anyone is confused.. I re-did the boat scene a few times trying to find where the souls were at, Fraqsu says they can be at the corners.. They wont necessarily be by the rock for #1.. They're spread out a good bit! Just roam around.

2 options for the boat ride, don't take the tour! Choose option 1. On the water you will see wandering souls, click on them. How do you get out of the boat? EDIT: When you get the 4 ombalonga for Kharen (quest start point) you can simply teleport out!
if ur strugling u should use bonfire boost, prayer renewal, bunyip or unicorn familiar that heals you and mahjarrat aura. i wonder if you can use yak full of rocktails instead of healing familiar ?
You may have found out by now, but if you right click the globe where the mini map is, it lets you change skybox/filters. I set it to dawn or daytime when in caves usually

How is the quickest way to get the 3k souls vessels?
step 1: don't be an iron
step 2: do the ritual which gives souls and use the bones that give the most souls
You can also create your own spirit momentoes from I believe it is vibrant energy. When I discovered that trick I sailed to the finish on the 3000.
