- This is a bit of a weird one for me. It's concerned with two things that hit our screens in the 80s. As this one is the oldest, first broadcast in 1981 it's the yellow Robin reliant. A star in it's own right in only Fools and Horses. Along with Del boy Rodney Granddad and Uncle Albert to name but a few. The series ran untill 1991 with Christmas Specials running till 2003. One of the best comedy series since TV started. Now closely followed by Gavin and Stacey.
The second one hit the News in 1985. I have had quite a time wondering if it is suitable for my channel. Mad cow disease was such a crisis to our Dairy Farmers. Who had to watch their herds being destroyed when maybe only one or two were showing symptoms. It was very contagious and a whole herd could became sick ln a few days. As it progressed many farmer lost their livelihoods. As the epidemic continued to spreed people started catching it. This was not such a major epidemic but for the people who caught it, the familys who had to watch their loved one forgetting them was heart breaking. As in humans the disease manifested itself as dementia. The age of the person was irrelevant. The mad cow in the box says feed me so I can get therapy. This could also be seen as insulating and upsetting to those with mental health issues. I feel my moneyboxes are reminders of past times both bad and good. And in the 80s some people would have seen this as funny. If you would like to comment please put your thoughts in the comment box. Thank you for watching. Xx
Why do only fools and horses work?😊
