I never comment on youtube but really enjoyed this show in particular. I made a "mistake" this year in thick hardwoods on my last day hunting in NC. I was disappointed at first and then realized the mistake was really a gift. It was a 2 year old 8 point whitetail that I would not call a trophy, but is still feeding my family with free range meat. I have killed many trophy deer on public land but I am no longer a trophy hunter. I am now only hunting for fun and meat. Your hunt looked like a lot of fun to me. I hope you have many great hunts in the future.
I got my only Elk in Gunnison abt 25 years ago while stationed at Fort Carson. 3 cities boys from the East coast. We were unprepared for the size of it, that we paid a man with a horse to help us get it out of the mountains. Unforgettable experience.
I love hunting Colorado. Great wildlife amounts, yet still challenging. And Gunnison seems anti-hunter (not that it is AT ALL) compared to a town like meeker! Thank you Randy for the great show and thank you CPW for all the work you do for hunters!
Randy I live in Central Oregon and our mule deer population has drastically declined in the last few years to the point it’s really a challenge to find them let alone a buck . I hear all of these reasons and theories but I have not heard the real reason or reasons why. I know that you hunt in a lot of western states but I’m not sure if you have hunted Oregon or Central Oregon so I would like to hear from you on some of the reasons why the deer population has declined in this area or heck maybe you know the answer I mean you are Randy 😂 but really what is your thoughts? Thank you so very much for the great content and thank you for being real
Cmon randy! Let that little guy live a few years! I grew up in gunnison and I work for an outfitter, and we gotworld class trophy bucks from monarch pass to Montrose!!!! Hold out for the big guy!!!!
@@damianaragon575 you must shoot whitetail, mule deer ain’t called 8 pointers and quite frankely an 8 pointer is typically a small mule buck! All I’m saying is there’s huge deer, he probly only had like 3 days of hunting, but there’s so many big deer here let the little guys go and let them get huge for another hunter! 2 more days I guarantee he shoots at least a 170+
Randy you ever go out to eastern co and hunt plains deer ? Prob not as much state land to hunt but I know all the places to go and have access too. A lot of big deer out there
I have not, due to the point you mention - difficult access. I have friend who have access and they shoot some great bucks out there. Thanks for watching.
did you camp on this trip or hotel it? all these video's are great. thinking of the 7mm08 for the kids and I am asking for an fhf bino harness for Christmas.

Thanks for watching. I love both of those places.
Went to college in Gunnison. Great little town, great fly fishing as well.
I admire how you do most of your hunting with an .308/7mm08. I have a .308 and don’t see many reasons to trade.
I have a .308 for all my western hunting, but if I had a 7-08 I wouldn’t trade it either. Good luck this fall.
awesome ! looks like a lot of fun and excitement I hope too make it there one day .
In Gunnison there's a outfit called Tenderfoot outfitters. Owned by a friend of mine Fred Stenson. They hunt up in the castle area. PUBLIC LAND!!!!!!
I've hunted the grand mesa on and off for 30 years. Sometimes it can be great sometimes not so great. Hope to see you there in 18,
I hope I am there. Fingers crossed that 3 points will get me a deer tag. Good luck.
Randy Newberg, Hunter Good luck!
I live about 2 miles where you saw them deer that went onto private in good ol hotchkiss

You are an Amazing Hunter , I only Wish I could Hunt with you just Once .
If you hunted with me, you would realize I am below average. I just don't give up very easy, so eventually I get a lucky break. Thanks for watching.
Totally agree. I put it on my birthday wish list. Hunt with my husband and Randy

Not everyone can get their hands on a monster or 8 pointer sometimes you just gotta be greatful man

If you watched the video he thought he saw all 4 points on one side when he shot it.
@@coltenmaloneoutdoors1031 we pass up Tony 4 pts every year!
"deader than disco" BWAAA HAAA HAAAAA
I stole that statement from a friend who has more funny one-liners than anyone I know.

That buck will eat well! Congrats
Awesome hunt man. I love all your videos. What caliber do you use for deer and elk?
+David Schirado - My all around caliber is a .308 Win.
+Randy Newberg, Hunter my next big game rifle is going to be a howa. I have t decided on a caliber yet but I'll have to check out the .308
David Schirado I use a 7mm Remington Mag and couldn't be happier.
6:27 Welcome to Colorado!
Deer next to truck is perfect. You’re the one who said don’t pass on the first day what you’d shoot on the last
True. Very true.
Love your vids Randy. Your style of narration is some of my favourite 👍🏻
I have hunted for elk with a bow several times outside of Gunnision. It is gorgeous country but I have yet to get an elk.
It is amazing country. Hope that elk finds his way to your freezer. Thanks for watching.
I got a cow this year in NV, but never in Gunnison. I hope to return.
thumbs up
So you could shot that bigger one close to truck😂
great hunt I use a howa 30 06 and a howa 223 here in new zealand
Here in new Zealand our hardest animal's are wapiti and Himalayan tahr .the 165 grn is perfect for them here actually its almost the perfect calibre
