He and the complier were the only ones who needed to read it, in the beginning, and the complier literally doesn't care about 90% of the things people were complaining about. It will optimize the same bytecode out of either format. It was just another mob of angry webgoblins looking for someone to hate on, instead of spending their time and energy creating things for other people to enjoy. It's so much easier to criticize than to actually contribute.

Yandev could've gotten a master's in coding and game design in that time, spent 2 years in apprenticeship, then would've *still* had enough time to finish his damn game if we worked on it for less than an hour a day for the comfortable remaining 2 years - not to mention the fact that he got enough money from the project to send himself through an Ivy League college.
