    Hi Kev, great review. I just bought the Gaggia Magenta Plus last week based on lots of video reviews, including yours. Can't wait to take it for a spin!

    I got one of these on your recommendation (and discount code!) and haven't regretted it for a moment. I'd appreciate a video on how to clean it properly.

    Hi Kev, yes definitely a bit dark, fairly consistent throughout the video. Not fatal but it could do with a tweak. I guess the industry favourites of chrome, stainless and gloss black are always going to be a problem. No doubt some fashion leader will go for enamelled pastel casings sooner or later. I quite liked the bright red period of toasters and kettles. Re the Anima, I still prefer the separate grinder, but I can see this is something you can just walk up to and knock out a decent coffee. The wand looked a bit dribbly. I'll be interested in how much maintenance it requires and what it actually does with the coffee grounds. The presentation works well, with the chapters, time codes and headings. Cheers, Jim.

      Thanks Jim :-). Yeah we'll be tweaking this, but yeah chrome etc., is a bit of a pain ;-). Yeah bean to cup isn't for everyone, I prefer a separate grinder too, but bean to cup vs home barista is a different ball game alltogether. The dribbly wand is what tends to happen with panarello wands, I'm not a fan of them, I'd always slip the panarello off and use the pipe as a steam wand, but some people prefer the simplicity of just sticking wand in the milk and not having to think about it, which is fine as long as they're happy with the texture they produce.
      Ta, Kev.

    Hello, very appreciative of all your comparisons. I am looking to buy a machine and wondered how much height clearance do you require to remove the water tank on this particular model? The position of the unit would be under some cabinets with a wall for to the left side of the machine. Cannot really put it elsewhere.

    Hi Kev, thanks for the review- I purchase one of these from Gaggia Direct, thanks for the code ; )
    In your review on your site you say that you have the volume set to 18g but when I do this the brew takes around 5 seconds (finest grind). In your video it's taking double the time, was that taken on standard volume? Just trying to work out if the rule of 28-32 seconds brew applies to this machine.

    • @Coffee_Kev
      @Coffee_Kev  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You're very welcome :-). No, shot time doesn't really matter with bean to cup machines, the 28-32 second shot time definitely doesn't apply here, you'll usually find it takes 5-10 seconds. Cheers, Kev.

    What’s the difference between this machine and the Brera? Can you do latte art, microfoam with the Anima prestige?

    Hi Kev, brilliant demos thank you i wondered if you have already done the the Gaggia Codorna barista plus. i am undecided between this one and the magenta plus.

    Hi Kev, thanks for this one. Really inetresting as I considered the Anima before I bought a reconditioned Brera, which I am really pleased with. It proves to me that a good bean to cup machine is what I need. I don't think I'll ever be a home barrista. Different solutions for different people - as you say in your reply to Jim. How does the expresso/americano compare to the Brera or are they much the same, just looks and features that differ? I really like the way you videos are developing, the shorter videos for a good intro and more detailed ones for those who want the detail. The closeups add to them, and the fast forward bits help keep the interest. I agree with Jiim, the presentation works well with the chapters etc. Keep up the good work. The contrast/darkness is there but it still works, just fine tuning for future videos.Thanks.

      Thanks Pavlo :-), appreciate that.
      Absolutely, different solutions for different people.
      The coffee is going to be almost exactly the same with all of the Gaggia machines, as they all use the same brewing unit and grinder, more or less. The only difference I can see where espresso is concerned between the two is the Anima has the three-bean settings, I think 7g, 9g, 11g while with the Anima you also have 8g and 10g, with the 5 bean settings in total.
      Cheers
      Kev

    Hi Enjoying your video's and learning a lot Kev, keep it going. I was looking at the Magenta Plus, but its a bit too expensive for me, so next best option is the relatively new Gaggia Anima Barista Plus - (from Gaggia Direct using your discount code). Have you had a chance to use this machine yet, cant see any reviews anywhere. Many thanks.

    Hi, can you advise how the espresso shots compare to the Barista Pro? I guess it would be equivalent to comparing pressurized to non pressurized porta filters?

    Hi. Can you tell me whether espresso is better or worse than machines such as Delonghi (e.g. Magnifica) or Melitta (Passione, Laticia)? I need to buy something budget and I don't know what to do...

      I had a delonghi magnifica S and it went wrong just as the guarantee ran out.
      I purchased the Gaggia Anima via Kev and Gaggia direct and not only did I get money off I also got a fantastic machine and lots of help (if I need it) from Raj and Kev.

    Hi Kev, Bought an Anima deluxe at Xmas ,makes good coffee but really struggle to get much of a Crema on espresso or Lungo, is that what is to be expected on an Auto bean to cup . Tried 4 types of beans and got grind set to 1

    How do you think these bean to cup espresso machines compare to the real thing?

    • @pavlo3113
      @pavlo3113 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As Kev says in his reply to Jim, it depends what you want. If you are prepared to develop a hobby as a home barrista, go thh separate grinder route. But I for one haven't the time, and a good bean to cup kept well serviced comes really close, and will often beat the high street coffee shops in my opinion. And you get to choose your favourite blends. You choose the route that suits your needs.

    • @Coffee_Kev
      @Coffee_Kev  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If by the real thing you mean compared to a traditional espresso machine, using standard baskets with a stand alone grinder capable of grinding for espresso with standard baskets, then my answer to that would be "compare in what way?" and if you were to reply with "compare in terms of cup quality" my answer would be "in whose hands?".
      In the hands of a home barista with lots of experience, the traditional setup would win vs bean to cup, I'd expect - although then it depends on whos judging.
      If it's the standard, every day coffee drinker who is judging, who quite often prefer slightly mellower coffee (hence the massive success of Nespresso) then maybe not.
      If you were to put the same home barista setup in the hands of a bean to cup user, someone with no experience of using a traditional machine, and then compare the two, it would be a different comparison I'd think.
      Ta, Kev.

    Magenta plus or the Anima?

    • @Coffee_Kev
      @Coffee_Kev  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your message,
      The magenta Plus: more modern mainly concerning the control panel and its looks. Also the Magenta has a Pro steam wand.
      The Anima: much more tried and tested, it has simple old school controls with a standard Panarello wand that you can remove so you can use the steam pipe as a steam wand.
      The Anima is cheaper especially with the £75 discount code I have, email me kev@coffeeblog.co.uk if you would like the code.
      Cheers
      Kev
