    Actual god tier teaching. Normally, I get a super basic example, then another super easy example, then an incomprehensible example and that's all I'll get on a concept from my course. You build upon each previous example and keep it easy to understand.

    For sin and cos it cycles, sin switches functions. Cos switches sign and function. Integrals go the opposite direction on that cycle.
    For tan, cot, sec, csc, draw a 3x2 chart:
    ➡️Sec ... Sec... Tan⬅️
    ➡️Csc... - Csc... Cot⬅️
    Now go from one side to the other. Start with what you have, and finish the row. If you have only Sec, it's deriv is left to right to finish that row or SecTan.
    If you have Cot you start at the right and go left -csc•csc = - csc².

    It should be noted, there is a distinction between the power rule and the exponential. And that the power rule works with constants denoted by n in x^n and that the exponential rule works with variables denoted by x in a^x.
    For example:
    power rule: 11x^6 ; 20x^3 ; 35^3
    exponential rule: pi^x ; pi^9y+x ; e^8y+x
    In problems if you are given a variable exponent follow the exponential rule, but if the term is raised to constant use the power rule.
    It should also be said that the video only goes into the exponential rule with a base of e. When the base isn't e use d/dx (a^x) = a^x ln(a)

    • @JKMath
      @JKMath 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do mean why don't we use the product rule for 3 times ln(5x+4)? The product rule only applies when functions involving variables are being multiplied by each other such as x*(x^2+1) or x*sinx and so on. It does not apply for constants times a function like 3*x or 3*ln(5x+4). One of the basic derivative rules you first learn is that for a constant "c" times a function, c*f(x), the derivative is just c times the derivative, so c*f'(x). I believe he shows this around 1:48. I hope this helps, but if you want more detail I believe I cover this in my own video on basic derivative rules which I will link here for you. Hope you find it helpful! chain rule has nothing to do with multiplication. For the product of two functions we use the product rule and division of two functions we use quotient rule.Chain rule is used when there is composition of functions that is a function of a function or such.

    So thankful for this channel, this helped me pass my calculus class, and whats worse is that my teacher in calculus doesnt even discuss at all just gave examples but doesnt even demonstrate it how, what a terrible teacher.
