    I think of it as "Exorcist III: As if Hospital Corridors weren't Horrifying Enough Already." Or maybe "Exorcist III: Was That Freakin' Fabio?" But in all seriousness, it took me years to see this because I generally never bother with sequels. Now I kick myself for the lost time.
    Fine list! For whatever reason, "Saw" never made much of an impression with me, but I'm there for any of the others. Especially intrigued by the Twin Peaks pick. Doubt it ever would have occurred to me for a horror list, but I approve! And The Shining is incredible. As for any you didn't mention, I haven't seen it in years, but I always thought The Changeling (early 80s George C. Scott one) was atmospheric and unsettling. Thanks for the video!

      I've seen The Changeling and I did like it. It's been so long though I don't remember much about it

      @anotherbooktubechannel It's an odd little thing, but I should have mentioned my appreciation for the Irene waitress character at Hap's Diner in Twin Peaks. Guess I just sympathize with her attitude toward life, the universe, and everything. And Lynch REALLY captures the odd feeling of a small town diner in the wee hours. 😂

    Jaws really does hold up so well. I watched it twice last year and it was so good. my favorite is probably The first conjuring movie or the first Halloween movie.

      @@TomOrange the first Halloween is a banger and it probably only missed my list by a couple spots. I remember enjoying the first Conjuring movie when I saw it in theaters but I haven't revisited it since then. Also never watched any of the sequels or spin-offs 😬

    Awesome list Nick! I looove Cabin In The Woods, would probably make my top ten. I love the Evil Dead franchise and have a soft spot for Army Of Darkness. My list will look very different but I have most definitely not watched as many movies as you. The Shining is in my top 3, frikken terrifying! Great video!

    Well, I guess I’ll be watching ‘X’ tonight. I suppose I’ll try Exorcist 3 as well!

    Great list Nick! It doesn't matter what other people think, if they mean something to you, then that is what makes them great! One movie I watch every Halloween is Silver Bullet, based on Cycle of a Werewolf by Stephen King. I know it's 80's corn but there is something about the movie (and the book) I keep going back to.

    Great list! I love Alien so much. One of my top faves for sure too. And Saw is really great. When I think about that movie and how everything played out it really kinda blows my mind still. My all time fave horror movie is Hellraiser. I just love it for reasons I can’t fully explain. 😂

      I wouldn't have guessed Hellraiser for you if you gave me 100 tries lol I've only seen Hellraiser once and I wasn't really a fan of it, but I recently read a book called Scared Sacred which made me want to revisit it. That book is a collection of essays exploring idolatry and religion in horror movies, and there is a really good essay in their about the Hellraiser franchise. Made me want to try it again!

    I would argue that The Substance is much more about self hatred and what we do to ourselves then just "aging in Hollywood". I mean, it IS the starting point, but that's just the surface level. I don't get why people say it's not a subtle movie. So much happened in the silences, in the looks, in the character's psyche. Not being subtle, Demi Moore would have had a friend so she can tell her how she feels at any point of the movie and it would be awful! 😂
    I like Saw 2 better. It really established John Kramer as a villain and it's a lot more interesting on a rewatch. I do remember how fun it was to be a fan of the franchise back then, searching forums for theories, impatiently waiting for the next chapter... I kinda miss those days.

      @anotherbooktubechannel  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@SylvainDementi there are A LOT of reasons I didn't like The Substance but I stand by what I said here which is that it was about as subtle as a sledgehammer. The point is made early and often, and seemingly never ends. Would have been a solid 85-minute movie if Stuart Gordon or Frank Henenlotter made it back in 1987 lol
      And yes I was allll over the Saw forums reading and posting theories. It was really an obsession 😅
