    Hi Brian would you recommend using the braveheart safety razor after 4 months use of a double edge safety razor. Thanks Tarun

    • @ExecutiveShaving
      @ExecutiveShaving  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, by now you should have a good understanding of the angles and pressure that's needed for a close yet comfortable daily shave. I don't know what your current razor is but The Braveheart in general is a slightly more closer shaver than most safety razors. If you are supposed to avoid hot water then why does heat retention matter so much with badger hair?

    • @brianm1967
      @brianm1967 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Use warm not hot water, if the water is uncomfortably hot for the face it's too hot for the brush.
      Thanks for watching!
      Brian

    • @AC-pm7sn
      @AC-pm7sn 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Brian Mulreany I didn't know that, thanks. I recently turned my water heater up to get a hot towel pre-shave...and my brush has been soaking in HOT water!

    • @brianm1967
      @brianm1967 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Hot water will damage the hairs and the bristles expand quicker than the handle this leads to cracked handles and the hot water can get into the glue that bonds the knot of bristles to the handle, eventually the knot falls out. Brian

    I always gently squeeze out excess water after rinsing my brush after use and then give it 10 shakes. I do not towel dry them. Then I hang it upside down on my brush stand. Is that ok, or can repeated shaking damage the brush? A prompt reply would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and regards, Dr . Basu( India)

    Sort of an odd ball question, but I have really begun to enjoy cold water shaves. I noticed you said to avoid hot water, is there anything against considerably cold water? I usually have been dunking my shave brushes in a mug of cold water just below the handle to avoid the epoxy/glue getting too wet but the hairs obviously are still getting wet. Is ice cold water just as bad?

    Thanks to this video I've switched from forcing the brush into the skin to using a much more gentle painting motion which, so far, has kept my current go-to brush in good shape. I've been into oldschool wet shaving for about a decade yet I only realized the other day that my lathering technique was excessively rough when a new brush of mine already showed signs of damage after one use. I guess I had gotten so used to lathering roughly that I didn't even realize I was being rough at all.
