Seriously though - it's very harsh to say Haaland "didn't have his shooting boots on" - literally the only thing that stopped him from getting a brace was a spectacular performance from Courtois.
Also, don't say "but Real lost 4-0, how was Courtois spectacular" - look at the goals. Courtois could have had 8 arms and a prehensile tail and he wouldn't have stopped any of them. He's the only reason City weren't 5-0 up by half time.

RM was not shocking, they were shocked. That 1st half was something else. Their game plan was to absorb the pressure but they were not expecting the fire hose. They had on 9mm armor, City came out with 50 cals.

Real Madrid have had it pretty good for a long time. But, although they are a great team, they’ve been a lucky team recently as well. outplayed for long periods by Tuchel’s Chelsea and Man City, who both somehow snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. Barcelona have smashed their domestic league, and the world has now watched City smash them, and it could have realistically been 7 or 8 tonight. Football goes in cycles, and Real Madrid might be looking at a relative decline , even though they are still obviously very good, other teams might have a bit more, and on a different trajectory. Alvarez is in line to win the lot this year - WC, Prem, CL and FA cup. Man Utd will not have enough to stop the UK part of that happening.
All teams are on relative decline compared to city and they will be in the future with Newcastle:
Net spend Real Madrid: 1/3 of Cities in the last 10 years.
Net spend Bayern Munich: 1/4 of CIties...
Net spend Inter Milan: 1/4 of Cities...
It was/is just a matter of time if you have teams with endless financial resources while others have to be economical. The English teams just play a different game and will in the future until all the other teams are basically forced into a super league. damn, decline at Real Madrid ? i remember 4 years ago, our first season without Cristiano was worse, we lost to Ajax in the round of 16, they also scored 4 but at Bernabeu .Don't think this is over boy, we had a very bad season yes, but we still managed to win 3 out 6 trophies, made 4 out of 5 finals, lost 1 final, won 3 & are 2nd in the league, pretty bad for Madrid . Arsenal is going trophyless and that is considered a good season by english fans . I thought Madrid's line-up was ridiculous. It was easy to play Camavinga out of position at home where the entire stadium has his back. Why do it again away from home instead on playing him in midfield with either Modric or Kroos? They needed legs to match City, so, he could have played Alaba at left-back and Rudiger at centre-back. I don't know what Carlo was thinking, however, I'm pretty sure most football fans know what Florentino Pérez is thinking.

Im a man u fan and i cant think of a better english performance in Europe. One thing is they should have been more clinical, and a little sloppy in the 2nd half but that only stops it being a perfect performance. One caveat is you dont get a cup for winning the semi. They must win it now, for it to mean something. Top, top performance though.
I agree with Cundy 100% in his opening response. I was watching this game and how controlled, composed and skillfully City were.. it felt like a performance above whatever we've seen an English club do in the champs league. Unreal from City and absolutely Un-Real from Madrid.

They were pressed simple. Unfortunately when being pressed heavily like that you need strong defenders capable of making their offense burnt out and a good counter attack strategy. Honestly if someone like Van Dijk was in that defense and they had midfielders (L+R) that were coming back to assist with defense with a striker like Haaland ready to counter, it would have been great.

I thought 1st leg game was a very tactical game. 2nd leg was one sided. Madrid were humbled and City were giving a football lesson. That was the best definition of TiKi Taka football. Honestly thought Madrid would do a job on them with all of their expertise and experience. I can see the older players taking all the flak for this loss similar to Xavi when things went wrong for Barcelona and Spain in 2014. He went from untouchable to expendable in double quick time.
