Congrats Corbin on getting the invite. I think the I9 looks OK, fits in a good niche in the market and will sell well if the pricing is reasonable. Not sure moving the charge plug from the right to the left is a mixed bag. Yes it helps with Tesla SC charging, but if we ever get street level charging the right side placement is the best place to have a plug. They already had it in the best place if they aren't going to put it in the nose of the car. Good to see Hyundai/Kia/Genesis is not sitting still. If one thing isn't your cup of tea they offer other options and vehicles. Unlike some manufacturers.
Kia EV6 coodos for the charge port relocation, that makes all the difference for possibly my next road tripper as in Western Canada high speed CCS chargers are far and few between!
The Kia ev9 actually does 0-60 in 4.5 in tests (without the acceleration boost upgrade). Interestingly I commented only last night about the charger on the wrong side for Tesla chargers, given the adoptions of nacs port. Nice to see they haven't gimped the ev9 GT to make it lighter like they did on the ev6 GT.
I came here to say the same thing too but I thought I saw 4.3 secs instead. Either way fast enough but yeah I thought it would have more power as well.
Glad you met all the other YTers. Yeah Kia is really killing it when it comes to pushing their EVs. The Ioniq 9 is nice too. I think the EV might serve all the people that think that the EV9 is a little too much styling for them. I have a feeling that the refresh EV9 will have that bigger battery. Too bad the GT trim isn't getting it. I was expecting more power as well. I also thought they would change the styling a little more too. It's a tough choice between the EV9 GT or Ioniq 9 Performance. 🤔 Either one is fast enough already but the Ioniq 9 has more range and a full panoroof finally.
This is cool, you being on site, thank you! The XRT, here in snowy Colorado, is definitely my next Ioniq 5. In other bad news, yet another recall on my 2022 Ioniq 5 for the 12v battery charging issue. Having something like the 3rd software install on Wednesday at the dealer. Getting tired of it.
Great report! Thanks for sharing! I'm wondering if there were any Hyundai/KIA ICE vehicles showing or was it all about the EVs? The HI5 is still my favorite!
I like the Ioniq 9 more than I thought I would. I like that Hyundai is doing something different. I think the charging port will be better on the Tesla location as I see my self doing more supercharging than curbside charging. I’m not sure I’ve even ever seen a curbside charger.
From the spreadsheet in the kiamedia posting, it looks like the EV6 trim lines are changing somewhat. There doesn't seem to be the right pattern of optional elements to have a "Tech package" for the Wind line. Perhaps that moves to the Light line, as it has a lot of 'O' entries in the feature chart.
I9 has a Volvo look. I'm definitely on board for the 2025 Ev6. I was sorry to hear mention on the Kia reveal of a slow ramp up (limited inventory by summer they said).
I hope they’re not moving the charge port in Europe. I charge my EV6 on the street and it’s in my opinion much better to have the port on the sidewalk side. I love the car and I will for sure consider it for my next car, maybe a 2025 or 2026. I like the EV6 design better than the Ioniq 5/6.
Did they announce when KIA/Hyundai will get supercharger access? I know KIA announced in January, but Hyundai never officially confirmed. Also wondering if I should take advantage of black Friday sale on a2z typhoon or wait to see if Hyundai does the right thing and provide their customers with a free adapter.
Unless you bought the car within a month or two of them announcing when supercharger access will begin, I wouldn’t count on getting one for free. Kia is doing exactly that and I don’t see Hyundai doing something different
Good question. As I'm sure you've noticed, the hyundaiusa website says "Fall 2024" and the current lease deals end December 2. But, the current cash deals on Ioniq 5 go until January 2025. Also, the supply of 2024 models is still high.
I really like to get ioniq 6 se rwd but i m scared what if i dont the expected range of 345 miles on a single charge in city driving that worries me a lot because of my daily high usage in houston tx where around a block is 30 miles
Next time you are in the 2025 Ioniq 5 Limited, check out the Boss sound system, the Kia EV6 Meridian sound system is considerably better than my 2023 Ioniq 5 Limited.
Great info as usual. I went on Amazon to look at the Weize AGM battery you said you installed in your IONIC and got a message that said This does not fit my 2023 Ionic5 SEL. Any thoughts as to why?
Now I have to decide - add another Ioniq5 but this one XRT (the ground clearance matters for me) or an EV9 with NACs. Unfortunately I do not love the Ioniq 9 design. Maybe EV9 will get the bigger battery too? I can dream…. LOL.
hmmm, looks like you missed the bright orange GV60 Magma concept which was also there -- think EV6 / Ioniq 5N with a super-nice interior. Would have been interested in your observations on that
Huh. So you got invited to the big reveal! Well… kudos to you. I don't have any complaints about the Ioniq 9's looks, but I do prefer the version with black wheel arches and body color inserts in them. As for the 2025 Ioniq 5 Limited, I like my 2024 wheels much better: the new ones look too spartan to me. And you know my take on the cupholders. It is surprising that the EV6 moved the charge port, but not the Ioniq 5. Hmmm. Ah, well… I intend to purposely avoid Superchargers if I can, anyway.
Do you know and if not can you find out when Hyundai will be putting a power seat and HUD in the 5 N? That’s the only thing keeping me from wanting to get one. I’d also prefer a brighter interior and power telescoping steering wheel but those aren’t absolute dealbreakers. That manual seat is a dealbreaker.
I don’t have any knowledge of when/if they will be the 2026 Ioniq 5 N will likely go on sale in the next few months so it may be worth waiting to see if it gets it. Hyundai just added a HUD to the 2025 Ioniq 6 after omitting it for two model years
@ - Thanks - What’s relevance of bringing in line with Kia - Hyundai had said a while ago even years would be saloon Ioniq ev then the SUV following .. made sense like - hard keeping up with these Ioniqs these days 😂
Off topic but potentially highly relevant for IONIQ 5 owners from 2023 onward: How relevant and accurate is this new TH-cam video claiming apparently a freash re-call on thie failed ICCU again: see link: Hyundai Recalls Over 145,000 EVs for 'Loss of Drive Power' th-cam.com/video/_1fBlq5ybVE/w-d-xo.html Note: what is odd about this video is how it is referencing IONIQ 5 model's that don't involve the 2022 model year ? (does that mean it's more likely this is a totally different re-call being issued to address the same persistent problem?) The video at minute 2:00 sounds like it's making a distinction between this new re-call from previos re-calls, however it's possible this is just Fake News that is A.I. generated, it's hard to tell on this one,

Great job. You and Alex have become my favorite car review/update channels. Keep it up please.
My ev6 have 2 month old and doing 4.4 kwm awesome energy saver with 90% I have in normal mode 367 miles.
Great meeting you and hanging out in LA! And great video!
Stylish, futuristic, convenient, elegant, large family car. Can't wait.
my next EV will be the Ioniq 5 or 6 or Ev6 at the moment but lease is up in 18 months so see what happens !!
Kia EV6 coodos for the charge port relocation, that makes all the difference for possibly my next road tripper as in Western Canada high speed CCS chargers are far and few between!

European models still have it on the right as they're imported from South Korea
@ ah thanks

The manufacturer hasn’t told Amazon every car it fits in. Group 47 is what Ioniq 5/6 and EV6 all use
Now I have to decide - add another Ioniq5 but this one XRT (the ground clearance matters for me) or an EV9 with NACs. Unfortunately I do not love the Ioniq 9 design. Maybe EV9 will get the bigger battery too? I can dream…. LOL.

I saw it and completely forgot it was the magma 😭

Can't wait to see an 84 kWh battery in the Ioniq 6
I seem to recall another TH-camr saying some of the new models have got vehicle to grid. Any truth in this?

@@TheIoniqGuyI’ll keep an eye out and thanks for the update.
I’m confused - did we go from Ioniq 6 to Ioniq 9 ? I have an older Ioniq myself 😊
@@TGPrince666 it actually was gonna be the ioniq 7, but decided to rename to ioniq 9 so it was more inline with Kia.
@ - Thanks - What’s relevance of bringing in line with Kia - Hyundai had said a while ago even years would be saloon Ioniq ev then the SUV following .. made sense like - hard keeping up with these Ioniqs these days 😂
There is no such thing as too much pixel lighting.
Not direct competitors...
Cool.
I'm not sure if you've covered it elsewhere, but I'm curious if the ioniq5 2024 is getting the updated infotainment system in the near future.
No, existing cars won't get the new infotainment software
@TheIoniqGuy bummer. One could wish though.
The Kia looks better.
