    One of the most stable OH positions in jerk and snatch I’ve ever seen. Also, my old gym made a cameo in here which was neat-o

    • @nithianathan7962
      @nithianathan7962 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      but olympic weightlifters are usually their strongest during off season aren't they?

    • @YungJuve
      @YungJuve 7 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      That 260 Bsquat was way after he retired from weightlifting and only a little bit of time after he got back into serious training.

    • @42kritik14
      @42kritik14 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      no not all weightlifters are strongest in the off season. the goal is to be strongest on comp day.

    • @8acun
      @8acun 7 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Actually russian lifters build strength in the off season.
      Then build speed/power in the ON season.
      Strength takes longer to acquire.
      Speed/Power is built faster on a 'strong' foundation.
      Big squats does not equal big snatch - example powerlifting.

    • @gregchuchelo7248
      @gregchuchelo7248 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      you can see him struggling with the clean on his c&j's too, but all those attempts were recent, post retirement lifts. if you look at his competition lifts, he smokes the clean part of the lift with ease. not having the same lifting regimen and dedication will obviously make one weaker. during their comp prep, all they do is lift, eat and sleep...and shoot up gear.

      Greg Kozak Split snatch?

    • @apfyts
      @apfyts 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, Google olympic split snatch. Instead of dropping into a full squat position, they used to drop into a split like the jerk.

    • @Cerdelimo
      @Cerdelimo 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe you meant split clean.
      Anyway I don't think so; the split jerk just looks damn good and more of a display of agility than the squat jerk (unless you go full depht like the chinese lifters; that is also so awesome).
      This kind of jerk Aleksey is using just seems awkard to me, despite being effective.

    • @SCB_01
      @SCB_01 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cerdelimo Aleksey uses the Power/Push jerk

    • @UncleRuckusEnjoyer
      @UncleRuckusEnjoyer 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Cerdelimo My soviet coach told me that the power/push jerkers are the strongest. While the split jerkers are more technical jerkers. But it is easier to learn split jerk than power jerk and the reason why is: First, you need to be that strong, second it almost as difficult to learn a good power jerk as a split jerk. But split jerk is more common cause you can move bigger weights with that. Because if you technique is good, 90% of the time you'll make the lift.

      @ancelmox5395 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      AfterYouKnowMe I really don’t know why Olympic Weightlifting champions turn to CrossFit. Is it because it’s more marketed (goldmine)?

    • @alexandergonzalezevans2686
      @alexandergonzalezevans2686 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Max Lang did one or two appearances in CrossFit. He is still a weightlifter fulltime?

    • @fmls8266
      @fmls8266 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      None of them is a crossfitter.
      Max is still competing as a weightlifter, Aleksey still coaches and does seminars as a weightlifter, never competed in crossfit or anything, he just fucks around sometimes on youtube.

    Unfortunately the real heavy hitters at London dropped out last minute in the 105 class. His 412 total would have been crushed by Andrei, Dmitry and Akkaev

    • @fmls8266
      @fmls8266 7 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      They dropped guess why?
      He has done such a small number for the same reason, as you can see here he was capable of 440, he just could not risk running that much juice.

    • @adriansherwin5455
      @adriansherwin5455 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      440? lol. You're delusional. Dude always was a 390's-low 400's lifter, which is still an incredible amount of weight. 420-430 is a real champion total at 105

    • @fmls8266
      @fmls8266 7 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Did you even watch the video at all?
      He was clearly able to do , and has done, 200-240 in training and in competition in Ukraine.

    • @BlakkLining
