i have one and respect the bow. it is very fast. the bow is far to finickey for me to be as practical as a good ol' forgiving wood bow. don't let me put u off it is a great bow. thank you.

I also do Taekwondo, it's very interesting to see how the philosophies applied to both are nearly identical despite the difference in what you are doing physically. Sadly I also don't have an Archery club anywhere nearby, so seemingly same as you I have been trying to learn from videos. Since your comment is a year old I assume you have some experience now, do you have any advice you could give to someone starting out?

    Isn't this a Mongolian bow?

Oh yes, they're very similar, but the process of making it has small differences from each other. I think it was how much fish glue the Koreans put on the bow to keep out moisture, or some other specific materials which are applied to which I forget the name of.

Koreans descend from Steppe people's stock. Composite "C-curve" type bows can be found in murals spanning back to the kingdom of Gojoseon (2333 BC(nominal founding)-108BC). There are still unique elements to Korean archery in such as the pyeonjeon and tongah which are known as "baby arrows" which have much better accuracy and higher velocity. The Koreans-like the Chinese- dealt with nomadic tribes for thousands of years which is why they developed such a versatile and compact method of combat. Such is the same reason why Koreans and Chinese adopted Brigandine armor over heavy plate armor.

They are practically the same style of bow. But Mongolian bows are a little bigger and heavier because Mongols were more muscular and stronger and had more pull power. Koreans and Mongols both come from the same ancestry from the Central and North East Asia. This type of bow is what Koreans, Mongols, and Manchus used, and to some extent the Turks. It was the best bow technology in the world.
