Hello, I’m Joe - I’m a guitar player, singer-songwriter, producer, recording engineer and teacher!
On this channel you’ll find my original songs, covers and solo fingerstyle guitar arrangements. My favorite music doesn’t fit neatly in a box so you may hear me play folk, blues, jazz, & classic rock - you can call it what you want; I feel honored to speak this timeless language of melody, harmony & rhythm.
I was born on May 25th 1991 in Kempsey, NSW, Australia. Since 2010 I have been based in the US and currently live in the Rocky Mountains of Montana with my wife, Genevieve (who teaches illustration on TH-cam!).
I play Maton acoustic guitars, made in Australia (just like me) and am very proud to have my own signature instrument, the JR Signature!

The night my father passed away, I was driving away from the hospital, and this song came on the radio (it was 21 years ago). I had to pull over and cry. I still tear up, thinking about it.

@@tomasocasiojr9748 I think I’ve healed about as well as one could. Kinda like being scabbed over just in time for my mother to be nearly 80 years old and worry about losing her. Guess that’s life.

I struggled to play this song as an accompanist at an Eric Clapton tribute in 2019. I get sweaty palms just thinking about it! Of course your rendition is far beyond anything I could have hoped to achieve. Absolutely beautiful.

I am afraid to post anything but praise because some idiot will ask me how many records I have made and also because I have so much respect for your talent but I need to say this. This is an achingly beautiful melody and song. It’s about the death of his son. You tend toward the one thing I dislike about TE’s playing and that is that he plays too hard (so do I). You cannot get the full dynamic range in this song if your base level is so hard. Listen to Eric sing it. Match the attack to his voice. It’s not a march. Again, I have nothing but respect for your talent. I just think this is a holy song and you can get more of the holiness by being less percussive and gentler in the gentler phrases. Chet’s sound was such that the guitar didn’t sound like it was being played. It sounded like the guitar was playing. It was almost detached. I can’t do that. But I try. I get better when I mic up so that I’m not psychologically trying to be heard. Anyway, I hope I have not offended you or that you and everyone thinks I’m an ass.
Just amazing that was only a guitar. It was intoxicating to listen to

It’s a very expensive guitar made at the Maton factory not a cheap guitar made in China etc . You should be featuring it in all your videos unless it’s not as good as the custom guitar your playing!
Hi Michael! This is the guitar the sig model is based on. I’ve been playing this one for over 10 years now, they call it the JR Personal, handmade by Andy Allen in the Maton Custom Shop. Just recorded an entire Christmas album with the new signature guitar. Both are amazing instruments. Thanks!

Joe what a beautiful job you have done on this wonderful song! Your talent is simply amazing! This song came out just shortly before my 11 year old son Donny was struck by a car. My late wife and I donated Donny's organs so that others could live. A few days later I called the local radio station and asked the DJ if he would play the song in memory of Donny, which he did. I always tear up when I hear this song but there is hope in the words of this song! I am trying to learn to play this song on my guitar but will never get anywhere near the way you play it. Thank you for sharing your talent with us. Do you tour and if so, do you ever make it to Erie, PA, I would love to hear you live.
