On a warm Saturday morning I took a packed bus from Dublin City Centre to Glendalough in the Wicklow Mountains. I took a brief walk around the Monastery (formed in the 6th Century) and the Lower Lake before deciding there were too many tourists for my liking and heading up onto the Wicklow Way to hike north.
The trail soon led uphill through forests and towards Roundwood where I got my first glimpses of the trail ahead and across towards the Irish Sea. After a few hours I made it to a car park close to Lough Tay where I then double-backed towards beautiful Lough Dan where I was to spend the night.

Painting a horrifying picture of all those loud teenagers! Glad you got away from there! Gosh The Wicklow Way was nothing like I imagined! The flies are annoying at this time of year! Nice to see the heather finally turning purple. Bad news about the sunglasses! Them flies love you! I find i cant wear aftershave this time of year whilst hiking but that wiping off perspiration method seemed to do the trick! lough dan looked lovely, very refreshing, owned by the Guinness peeps and with a frothy head! Great tips on wild camping in private areas! 👍 Darn shame about those sunglasses! Very authentic Irish cuisine! Nice spot to camp. Roll on part 2 👍

Great Trail. The flowers really look like heath - got a lot of it in Northern Germany. The lake is a nice place for a Sundowner. 😂🍻

Nice hike! Glendalough was something to see but as you said probably better with less people. I haven't yet spent in time in Ireland but am looking forward to it and would like to do a lot of hiking there. Awww thank you! Hahah definitely not cologne as I wasn't wearing any...I think they liked sweat 🙈 I saw them harassing other people later on too. It's not private property, you're allowed to go down there but no fires or camping...oh as it was just cheese and ham I knew it would be OK not being in a fridge for 1 or 2 days but I wouldn't take the risk with say, milk or yoghurt 😄

And yes, so nice to hike like you are alone on hearth with this somptuous scenery....If I understood, you were not exactly on the Wiclow trail ? was it a written part of the trail as well or a part of the path that you have defined yourself ? So I’ll wait for the next video to see if you finished your bivy in good conditions, not hunted by the Guiness family like a hunted deer, or eaten by mosquitoes ... 😊🧡🧡🥾
Yes I was lucky enough to have e it most of the time to myself 😄 I walked along the Wicklow Way north from Glendalough to an area called Luggala, then left the trail to find the camping place at Lough Dan. I used the All Trails app to find it 😁 hahha well *spoiler alert* I made it out of there alive without being hunted down by the Guinness family 😁😂
