    I don't get all the Risto hate. He has been consistent, and a big body that hits hard. His contract wasn't so great a few years ago but at this point it's not even bad. Our D would be in shambles without him.

      @@sirfish9824 ... you can't know that. Do you have a crystal ball or ESP? And I'd like you to show your work on the claim that "keeping him would just hurt the future of this team" - in what way does having a reliable, physical, big D-man who factors in offensively here and there *hurt* this team?

      @@sirfish9824 "could" is not a value argument. "Could" is a mystery box. If Danny gets an offer that constitutes a slam-dunk in return for Risto, he'll do it and he should do it. What he *shouldn't* do is trade Risto just to get him out the door, in order to acquire some nebulous "something" in exchange. Ridiculous that fans of this team even think about it the way you do - born of pure, rabid impatience and insistent ignorance.

      He has the same problems as dysdale except he’s not as highly touted as a prospect (for whatever reason). They’re both small (even by average man standards) and Andrea specifically RARELY protects himself when making (good) plays with the puck. Being a shorter guy those hits will end your career over time. I agree Andrae is good (probably better than drysdale right now) but it’s those plays that get him sent down

    This was a frustrating presser to listen to. Regarding Laughts and Risto. I don't give a damn about anything except "What does this roster look like 3 years from now?" Both assets need to be leveraged for returns that will help with the rebuild.
    Also, Danny acts as if acquiring a real C to pair with Michkov is some sort of luxury. It should be the #1, top priority item on his agenda. Period.
    I like Danny, but he sounds like a guy who's thinking himself into a corner where making zero moves either at the deadline or in the off season is a real option. Just listen to him. Everything is NOW NOW NOW and "culture". He & Jonesy came in talking about the crucial need for top end talent, and have since plotted a course that excludes making moves to acquire top end talent.
    Lastly, the pathetic garbage media failed to ask even one question about making moves to move up in the draft - even though everyone knows he has 6 top 40-ish picks this year. Drafting high and getting elite players for the rebuild - or not - will determine whether he succeeds or fails in this job.

No questions asking about the value of gaining another 1st round pick in the 25' draft at the deadline, versus accumulating draft capital in 2026. Sean couturier makes more money than
    Adrien Kempe
    Nico Hischier
    Zach Hyman
    Tage Thompson
    Clayton Keller
    Anze Kopitar
    Brad Marchand
    Aaron Ekblad
    He makes the same amount as
    Quinn Hughes
    Cole Caufield
    Jack Hughes
    JT Miller
    Jesper Bratt
    Nick Suzuki
    He has consistently averaged less than 12 minutes of ice time and is a shell of his former self. he has scored in 5 games this year having played 45. The flyers have to pay him until 2030. It's gonna be hard to compete until then with contracts like that.
    (I know scoring isnt everything, but if you know anything about the sport, you understand that he is at this point in his career, a bottom 6 center) He is not a terrible hockey player by any means, but you can not argue he is not wildly overpaid for what he is. Back surgery is no joke.

    • @kygo_tothepolls
      @kygo_tothepolls 10 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      First of all: who's Adam Kempe?
      Second: do people just forget that Couturier didn't play hockey for two years? He came back last season for his first (almost) full season, putting up 11g - 27a - 38p in 74 gp; not amazing, but the team wasn't either. This year he's already at 8g - 15a - 23p in 45gp: over an 82-game season, that's a pace of 14 goals, 27 assists, and 41 points, or roughly the same as last season. I think, however, that his play overall has looked as though it's slowly and steadily improved over the course of the season so far - which tracks with a long, arduous recovery - and I think he'll start racking up more points here in the latter half. I have no delusions that he'll return to the player he once was (although it would please me greatly to watch all the Coots haters eat their words), but you're talking out of your ass if you think he'll never be better than a bottom-6 center again.

    • @AM-hj3ov
      @AM-hj3ov 10 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@kygo_tothepolls I respect your opinion. I just disagree.
      His back surgery is concerning. The fact he plays less than 15 minutes on a non playoff team is concerning. He has 8 goals this year, but has only scored in 5 games with 3 of them coming in one game (one being an empty net). he has recorded a goal in 5 games out of 45. he has 15 assists so he isnt necessarily dishing it either. its not just the stats. It's the eye test where he looks slow and stiff.
      I understand where you are coming from. hes not an awful player but if you think his output is worthy of a top 6 center spot or getting paid about 8 million a year, you are delusional. I know what he used to be, but he is just not simply the same player. He is definitely not getting better at his age and with his injury history. Similar to last year, he started off ok and has completely tailed off as the season goes on. that will only continue to happen as the years go on until 2030

    • @kygo_tothepolls
      @kygo_tothepolls 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ I think this response is frankly ridiculous - just reiterating everything you said in your original comment without any consideration to my reply. We also simply disagree in our evaluations of the player based on our individual eye tests. So the only place to
      go from here is just to watch what he does on the ice the rest of this season. Like I said, I think he's improving and will continue to. I could be wrong - I often am - but what I *know* is that when people evaluate him like you have, they simply don't have the requisite patience for a player in his situation.

    Bang on about Luchanko & Bonk. Dave Cameron and Canada’s mis-management was a joke the entire tourney.
    As much as I like Risto and think he’s a really good defensive dman… I believe you trade him. Whether that’s next year or the year after. Hope another dman comes up and takes his place for way less money. But that’s a big hole to fix.
    You also have to trade Farabee, there’s no debate for that. Same goes for Laughton.
    With Frost there’s something there and I believe in him. Keep him.
    If Blake Coleman and Barclay Goodrow can fetch a 1st round pick, then all these players should also get a 1st rounder in return.
    Sign Cates long term. He proved he should be here for the future. 6x4.5M and sign the other 3 RFA’s. They’re apart of the long term. Frost shown he can be that 2-3C. Once contending if Cates is your 4C that’s outstanding.
    Send Kolosov to the AHL, if he runs away then sayonara. Ersson has really good numbers past 6 games.

He got 5 years. Seems like they’re doing pretty good. Cirelli got 8 years, Paul got 7 years. They’re 2 and 3C’s in Tampa. When Cirelli signed that deal he was their 3C. Seems like they’re doing pretty good. Gaudreau is a 3C on Minny and got 5 years. If Cates is your 3 or 4C it works. Do it.

    When are we signing McDusty? Just got 3 game suspension for trying to take out opposing player. We need that kind of sandpaper. I guess his skill might come in handy too -- even though according to every beat reporter "we just need a goalie" -- which suggests that we're set, as far as skill. lol OK

    Jamie Drysdale:
    2024-25 Season
    GP: 35
    Goals: 2
    Assists: 9
    +/- : -14 (at one point this season, he had the worst plus minus out of 700 skaters in the nhl not long ago)
    Career +/- : -75 in 180 games (wild statistic). MINUS s e v e n t y f i v e in less than 200 games
    Hes been in the league for 6 seasons now, despite how we tend to treat him like some sort of rookie. At what point do we severely worry about him and what he actually is as an nhler? hes clearly not an offensive guy at this point and is a liability in the defensive zone. I am hoping I am completely wrong as a diehard, but I am worried about it.

      Yours is a weak take. He's had injury troubles. He only last year at this time finally got to a REAL org with real coaches. The question with Drysdale isn't "what is he now", it's "where will he be 2 yrs from now after getting real development when Danny's draft picks are starting to integrate into the roster".
