Stock Scattergun, the most important and most creative design of a weapon for Scout was completely neglected. It's special because it uses three various mechanisms, and each of them defies the use of the two other's. I'm not an expert on weapons, but from what we can see, it's got a Winchester style lever-action loading mechanism, with a lever which in reality you're supposed to pull only *once* after every shot, a drum magazine, designed to hold multiple shots, popular in self-repeating weapons that don't even require pulling any levers after shot, and finally - two barrels, designed for double-barrelled shotguns that can shoot only twice - once from each barrel. The only logical way to explain how this weapon works is that the drum contains a _smaller,_ internal magazine with either 3x2 or 6x2 size, and the lever is only used to put shells into it, while the shotgun itself utilizes a self-repeating mechanism, which normally wouldn't require any form of reloading between shots. Either way, it's an overcomplicated mechanism that can only be explained by a need to limit the amount of ammo that Scout uses per second, for whatever reasons. The only sensible role for the two barrels would be the need to increase the strength of a single shot, assuming every single shot is actually from both barrels at the same time.
I think what we can assume is that Scout's entire resevoir of ammunition is held in the drum, but only has enough room to store 6 spent shells Because the scout always dies before he runs out of ammo, we never need to see the drum reloaded/refilles ;D
I cannot express how much I hate the sun on a shit I really hate the sun on a shit. It doesn't even deserve to take up 1 whole space in my loadout. I'd rather fight with scout's small baby fists than use this pathetic excuse of a melee weapon. "UsE iT WiTH FrieNDly PyROs To MaKE ThE MoSt ouT of IT" as if the burning enemies didn't already burn to death. The fact that the enemy is burning and pyro is still alive is already a sign that the enemy is gonna die, and a crit would be useless. Its basically a neon anniahlator except you can actually use the neon. Sure, pyro is weaker in water, but with the shotgun, he stands a chance. Now, in what situation is scout stronger by running straight into a firefight? None. And besides, you'd be better off finishing them off with a scattergun. TL; DR sun on a stick is shit, useless, and the worst weapon in tf2.
I have a theory about the dent on the stock bat, and it ties directly into the Meet the Scout SFM released by Valve. Fun Fact: The Boston Basher is actually a Trench Raiding Club. This was a weapon used in World War 1 as a means of silently raiding trenches. Considering the game takes place during WW2, It's fitting!
Im guessing the reason why the scout never loads shells into the scattergun is because all the ammo is stored in the drum magazine and during the reload animation he loads in new rounds from the magazine and also ejects the fired shells at once.
The Atomizer actually has bat weights added onto it, which are added for practice. And the Boston Basher actually does damage to the scout because the added weight throws his swing off and makes it hard to stop.

Plus the scattergun is basically a double barrel lever action version of the SPAS 12 in how it operates(semi auto and pump/lever action modes) so it just needs some tweaking on the model side and the stock items could use some functions to not be just a "the upside of the stock is that it lacks the negatives of the unlocks" while not having any positives of their own. Hell, the Quake Champions default Super Shotgun is how a Scattergun would act like.
@Ferocious Battle I am of the opinion that a cartoon gun that makes sense but has wacky toon force physics applied to it works best, and my suggestions on how a PRACTICAL design of the TF ind. scattergun Mk 2 would work helps with that.
I think the the Scattergun works like this: You load 30 or so shells onto the drum magazine. The magazine then dedicates a loading tube or something that has 6 shells each. The firing goes from left to right, but you can only fire 6 shots until you need to eject the old shells and load new shells simultaneously by using the lever. This continues until you run out of shells in the magazine. Scout reloads his drum shells by getting ammo crates, even though there isn't any animation for it. I think the extra shells the HUD shows represent the shells which haven't been loaded into the tube thing yet. Of course, there would be some sort of spring mechanism to push the shells into the barrel. This has been my TED Talk, thank you for listening.
Interestingly enough, the Boston Basher 5:57 seems to most closely resemble a WW1 trench club, which more commonly had the same distinctive shape and spikes, but died out past the Great War.

I made a comment on how I think the Stock scattergun should act, long story short, double barrel semi and lever action retro futuristic version of the Spas 12.
@@tekaalook Valve's Half Life 1 and 2 had the Spas 12 as a pump action with a two shot mode, so take that as you will. but seriously though, imagine a semi auto one shot per trigger pull and a two shot lever action double barrel shotgun for a speedy boy. I did and it is MARVELOUS!

Baby faces browning actually sounds pretty good.
5:09 99% sure its a hotline miami reference
I've seen a few comments bringing this up but I couldn't confirm the link directly while researching. I'll look into this.
The weapon was around before Hotline Miami was even a thing, it is a promo weapon for Sleeping Dogs.
You were able to get a genuine quality of the cleaver by pre-ordering the game on Steam.
the scattergun is an AA12, Double barrel, and a lever shotgun all put in one package
"I apologize if I mispronounce a gun's name or something."
*sten*
Ithaca.
you forgot to mention that the Boston basher is based of a trench mace used in ww1
3:41 I didn’t know senpai from fnf had a gun
When i look at the pistol it reminds me of a 380 (house protection pistol)
Kewl
7:20 You fool, you made a basic error! There are two instances of "but" in the fun fact! I disliked, and am not insecure in the slightest!
jeralt
I'm never gonna live that one down am I?
I'm gonna be honest, I've never played a Witcher game
2:19 it’s also based on the Remington Eliot 4 shot derringer
Very well done video, you deserve more subs, keep up with tje great content buddy 💪😎
"exposed firing pin"
"fires all barrels at once"
That made this gun fanatic, cringe.
He d
Say
Shoot
Barrel
Not at once
Ok
I know
I think that the scattergun has all of the ammo inside it, scout just needs to eject the empty shells to make room for new ones
2:45 Ha, he said peepee!
I look forward to watching the future live readings of the TF2 IMFDB page.
Scout's weapons are quite weird.. Valve doesn't know a lot about guns I think.
It's intentional, it uses carton logic
I made a comment on how I think the Stock scattergun should act, long story short, double barrel semi and lever action retro futuristic version of the Spas 12.
@@drivanradosivic1357 Sounds like half life 3
@@tekaalook Valve's Half Life 1 and 2 had the Spas 12 as a pump action with a two shot mode, so take that as you will.
but seriously though, imagine a semi auto one shot per trigger pull and a two shot lever action double barrel shotgun for a speedy boy. I did and it is MARVELOUS!
@@drivanradosivic1357 Some weapons don't even have catridge, like Demoman's grenade launcher(which shoots *4* grenades), and most of pistols, revolvers, smg, etc..
I'm not even sure what half of these guns are but it's still cool to see the origins of these things
the holy mackerel’s name is inspired by Ed Edd and Eddy I think, because sometimes they say that
I apologize if this is a joke and its gone over my head, but Holy Mackerel is a thing said in the place of or with "I can't believe it!" Used Circa early 60s to the early 90s, and carried on in sitcoms and cartoons past late 90s and onto the 21st century
pretty sure the drum the barrels are attached to on the scattergun hold all the shells, and scout has to pull the lever to eject shells to add room for new shells to enter the barrel.
6:42
whomobile: I'm assuming it's a mackerel
the "mackerel" in "holy mackerel":am I a joke to you?
Good video! Looking forward to the other classes.
6:03 is it me or does the club used as the boston basher look like one of the little poles in wooden rainways that people in tv shows get their head stuck in
I can feel the disgust in your voice when saying “ALOOMINUM
I believe the guillotine is a reference to hotline Miami
The scattergun is a combination of a double barrel and a Winchester Mare's Leg
Scout is not supposed to have a sword, so ready up the the desync cannon!
Anyone got that reference, good job.
fun fact: BFB and PBPP are included in the Public enemy set, wich features a duffel full of money and a fedora full of bullet holes
shortstop is a 4 barrel derringer
force a nature/ soda popper is a stoeger uplander field 28
Isn't the COP and a Derringer the same thing?
technically the winger is a desert eagle because eagles have wings and the reduced amount of bullets in a clip and larger handle shows that the pistol fires bigger rounds
