That upland rice is not a rice field so I am curious was it planted on purpose or did it just self-germinate from a rice field higher up the hillside by being washed down the hill from a previous harvest 😊 I see your swimming pool is not getting used, that was a capital expenditure waste - maybe you could turn it into a fish farm to make it earn income 😉

Das ist eine simple dreschwalze - haken in holzschienen eingelassen, die praktisch die Körner von den Halmen abstreifen oder abrupfen. Einfach, aber wirkungsvoll für kleine Mengen Reis. Die frühen Handdreschmaschinen auf kleinen Höfen in Niedersachsen waren auch so aufgebaut, allerdings mit einer Handkurbel und einem Einfülltrichter. Darunter waren Rüttelsiebe, die das Stroh seitwärts beförderten und das Korn durchfallen ließ. Manche davon sieht man noch in Heimatmuseen.
