  • We haven’t been to one of our favorite sites in Louisiana (the Rabbit Pen) in several years so before it got too hot we wanted to give it another shot and we’re glad we did. We had Mile and Zach from PineBeltRelics with us and as usual we had a blast. Lately we seem to find some of our best stuff at the end of the day and today was one of those days. Please join us on another fun filled adventure and see what the end of the day brought for us.

    Really good to see you guys finding relics and having fun doing it. Most people don't realize the work that goes into your finds. I'm a surface hunter so the works preformed by farm machinery, then the Good Lord sends the rains to expose the relics. When I finally get to watch different artifact channels I like reading the comments. Anybody can be a keyboard bully because there's no reprecutions for their comments. Nice finds and cool little snake . Had a 5 1/2 footer in our house a couple of days ago . Wish I had of made a video . It was a lucky snake , it had crawled through a piece of 3/4 copper tubing about an inch long . it was about 6 inches down it's body . I got some Vaseline and rubbed it down and worked it back over it's head . Then I relocated it a few miles away .

    Have you guys ever thought about how the tips get there? Guy throws an atlattle dart and it goes in the ground hidden like an arrow? Or they get a dart in something and are running along not able to retrieve a miss? The ridge you where just hunting is that a spot prey was or an encampment?

    • @HeartbreakerRelics
      @HeartbreakerRelics  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Our thought is that most of the tips we find here have been broken by heavy equipment during the logging and land clearing that went on.

    Just curious, don't you think that you are leaving ALL of the archaic and paleo artifacts by digging so shallow. AND, by having so many people digging with no strategy, that you just destroyed the site with so many test holes all over the place

    • @HeartbreakerRelics
      @HeartbreakerRelics  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, we're not worried about that. On this site we have dug as deep as four feet in some spots just to make sure we not leaving anything. Now I have a question for you. How many of these sites do you think are in North America alone? I'll answer it for you. There are literally thousands if not tens of thousands. There are sites being destroyed all over the country by development every day. The academic community doesn't have the resources to investigate the very important ones much less do a thorough excavation. We would rather rescue what we can from small sites rather than see it destroyed by development. To be honest if the archaeological community would treat the property owners better there would be more of them invited to do digs on private property but they come in, take three digging seasons (years) to dig, tieing up valuable farm land then taking all the artifacts (to study them) never to be seen again by the property owner. We do understand the importance of professional archaeology and respect it very much but there has to be a better rapport between both parties. Sorry if I come across as a little harsh or short but we get this occasionally and to be honest are tired of the finger pointing. Not that that's what you are doing. Just telling you where we are coming from.

    • @shanedurrance
      @shanedurrance 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HeartbreakerRelics LOL, well finger pointing, I am not! However, why in the world would you dig a site and skim over the top of the "Good Stuff" just to find MORE artifacts? Now you have no idea where you dug with all those pot holes. Why not be strategic and start in one area and dig across the site. I am not a archeologist, I am not a college professor, and I am not a know-it-all! The way you are doing it, you have no way of knowing where you dug for next time. LOOk, do whatever you want, it is impossible these days to find a land owner to let you dig on their property. ALL I am saying is take advantage of the opportunity. So save the attitude, I was just trying to help. Geeezzzzzz. By the way, where is the squirt squirt guy?
