My crew and I, banded by the speaker,
    Standing with heaters,
    Turned the opposition into retreaters,
    Seekers into greeters,
Ye of little faith, into true believers,
Hey, "Fever" comes with "summer madness," Whackness udder madness,
    I'm the baddest, plus the
    Grandest,
Keep y'all top 5, I'm on the grand list. Haters can't stand this,
So, I tell'em to stand down,
    While they stand around,
    I'm the winner,
    Hands down,
    So clap ya hands now!
I do more than move the crowd,
    I make'em scream loud!
Mean while I been here since beat street, crush groove and wildstyle!

An extra smoothalicious reaction 🥷🏾! I see 👁👁 that you have reacted to Eric & Rakim before: I Ain't No Joke, Paid In Full and Microphone Fiend. Move The Crowd was the fourth single released from Eric B & Rakim's 1987 album: Paid In Full. It was written and produced by Eric B and Rakim. It sampled: Hot Pants Road by The JB's (1970), Flight Of The Newborn by Return To Forever (1975) and Eric B Is President by Eric B & Rakim (1987). The song reached #3 on the Dance chart. The music video was directed by Bill Dill and features appearances by Fab 5 Freddy and actor Gary Dourdan (Shazza Zulu from A Different World).
Before Rakim was known for rocking mics he was a talented saxophonist who studied legendary jazz musicians like John Coltrane and Thelonious Monk both of whom became major influences in his lyrical style of writing and rhyming. Rakim is known for complex internal rhymes, compounding, literate imagery, velvet-smooth flow and unpredictable off-the-beat rhymes. Rakim is one of the top 5 emcees of all time bar none. Rakim has influenced many emcees spanning decades from Nas to Wu-Tang Clan to Eminem to J Cole to Kendrick Lamar.
    Critical Response 🗣:
AllMusic wrote that "during rap's so-called golden age in the late '80s, Eric B & Rakim were almost universally recognized as the premier DJ/MC team in all of hip-hop."
Tom Terrell of NPR called them "the most influential DJ/MC combo in contemporary pop music period."
The editors of About.com ranked them as No. 5 on their list of the 10 Greatest Hip-Hop Duos of All-Time, and Rolling Stone ranked them No. 5 on its list of the 20 Greatest Duos of All Time.
MTV ranked the album Paid In Full at number one in "The Greatest Hip-Hop Albums Of All Time", stating it raised the standards of hip hop "both sonically and poetically" and described it as "captivating, profound, innovative and instantly influential".
    Eric B & Rakim (pronounced Rah-Kim) Info 📜:
Eric B & Rakim are a hip hop duo formed on Long Island, New York in 1986 composed of DJ Eric B (born Eric Barrier) and MC Rakim (born William Griffin Jr).
Rakim was born on January 28, 1968 in Wyandanch, New York on Long Island. He wrote his first rhyme at seven years old, about the cartoon character Mickey Mouse. He initially aspired to play professional football. He was a quarterback on his high school football team.
Eric B was born on November 8, 1963 in Queens, New York. He attended William Cullen Bryant High School under a basketball scholarship. "I thought of becoming a pro ball player," he said. "But music became a priority."
Eric B and Rakim met in 1985 after Eric B looking for a rapper to complement his turntable work at the New York City radio station WBLS. After Rakim responded to Eric B's search for "New York's Top MC", Eric B's friend and roommate Marley Marl allowed him to use his home studio. The first track they recorded: "Eric B Is President", was released as a single on the independent Zakia Records in 1986. After Def Jam Recordings founder Russell Simmons heard the single, the duo were signed to Island Records and began recording the album in Manhattan's Power Play Studios in early 1987. Rakim wrote his songs in approximately one hour while listening to the beat. He then recorded his vocals in the booth by reading his lyrics from a paper.
In 2006, Rakim revealed, "When I hear my first album today I hear myself reading my rhymes but I'm my worst critic." The duo completed the album in one week. They have said that they worked in 48-hour shifts and recorded in single takes to complete the album within budget. In a 2008 interview with AllHipHop, Eric B stated, "To sit here and say we put together this calculated album to be a great album would be a lie. We were just doing records that felt good."
The album's success led to a contract with Uni Records and MCA Records, where they released their second album: Follow The Leader (1988). Eric B and Rakim are credited as officially producing Paid In Full. Although Marley Marl claimed to have produced two tracks: "My Melody" and "Eric B Is President", Eric B has argued that Marley Marl was only an engineer. In 2003, Eric B alleged the duo had not been fully paid for their work, and filed a lawsuit against the Island Def Jam Music Group, Lyor Cohen and Russell Simmons.
Eric B & Rakim released two more albums as a group: Let The Rhythm Hit 'Em (1990) and Don't Sweat The Technique (1992) before breaking up as a group and releasing their own musical projects.
Eric B released a self title solo project in 1995 while Rakim released two solo albums: The 18th Letter (1997) and The Master (1999). Rakim then signed with Dr Dre's Aftermath label in 2000, but the expected album never materialized. Since then, Rakim has made guest appearances with numerous other artists such as Jay Z ("The Watcher, Part 2"), Truth Hurts ("Addictive"), Nas, KRS ONE ("Classic"). In 2002, "Don't Sweat The Technique" appeared in the video game: Aggressive Inline. In November 2009 Rakim released another solo album: The Seventh Seal.
Eric B & Rakim broke up around 1994 but did reunite in 2017-18 for a short concert tour. Rakim still performs his songs live on stage in 2023.

Eric B is the DJ scratching the records and making the music. Rakim is the Rapper on the mic. You say Rakim like a little kid who says Raaaa! Like they are trying to scare somebody and then add kim. And it's Rakim! Yeah Rakim vocabulary is on a whole another level. He rhyme with big words and he is a 5 percenter. Some say he is the greatest MC of all time. And he rarely cuss in his rap songs. Another thing about his name Rakim is that he took part of that name from the ancient Egypt Sun God called Amun Ra! Amun Ra has a Falcon head (which is symbolic of higher learning and being far sighted) and if you know about astrology they say that Aquarius animals are Large Birds and it is an air sign. And so his rhyme style is way up in the clouds meaning you have to be concoucis or a deep thinker to pick up on his lyrics and understand where he's coming from. Another name that he goes by is Rakim Allah The God MC. One day react to [ Rakim When I be on the mic ]
