    I’ve been using Buggs lures for about a year in marshes on the upper Texas coast. Mostly the double curl tail jig for redfish. They cast really well on lighter gear from a kayak. Great for flounder and redfish.

    Cool video and great points/facts! Hair-jigs flat out catch'em in both fresh & saltwater all year around! While a lot folks think that craft-hair,bucktail,marabou,etc... only excels in cooler/colder water ,they couldn't be more wrong. From Smallmouth Bass to Largemouths to Reds,Snook,Tarpon,Flounder,Pompano..etc... They'll all eat'em in any conditions if fished correctly. And what you said about having the homemade look is spot-on in regards to fishing any species with an artificial! If you look at some of the stuff for instance a lot of the Bass Pro's throw that is more custom made that excels on certain bodies of water it looks homemade....even when some paint their own baits to customize them -nail polish etc...They look homemade.

    Interesting hybrid lure. I'm not too sporty on artificials but the rabbit hair on that one might make the difference

    Bugg's Lure are a great addition to a flats fisherman tackle box. I have had great success both sightfishing and blind casting. They work awesome on redfish and flounder.

    Buggs are a Texas coast favorite. They're only second to throwing Paul Browns Corkys. Excellent in skinny water with a finesse setup.
    The new Trout Thumper is a favorite

    Are you using an ultra-light set up to throw these bugs jigs? And if so the what are your preferred gear recommendations. Thanks for sharing this review.

    Great, informative video with solid info on these Buggs! I have purchased some and tied a few with the Bugg’s flat bottom heads. I’m planning on fishing them in Southern California bays and harbors for spotted bay and sand bass, and halibut.

      You might be giving them to much action or reeling too fast. Slow down and use short lifts of rod tip!

    Capt ca what baitcaster and gear ratio and rod action were using ? Look like shimano curado dc with shimano glf medium light and what pound test power pro slick 8 v2 were you using ?

    These lures are fish candy!
    Both sight casting and blind casting, it hooks up everything. Plenty of days when they won’t take a topwater or suspended bait right in front of them but they hammer the Bugg.
    These catch fish all over the world.

    What’s the weight of each. Apparently heavy enough to use on a baitcaster. I was thinking a medium light spinning rod. Good Stuff

    • @flatsclasscharters
      @flatsclasscharters 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      1/4oz plenty heavy

      I use a 1/8 Beastie bug. Works perfect on dead calm ultra clear ultra shallow water. Doesn’t make a peep when it hits the water. I’ve tried the bitty bugg 1/16 for sheepshead but not enough weight to get out far enough.

    Been looking at these for awhile. That’s why I got the sampler pack! Can I power fish with any of these baits? I don’t have a platform I’m able to sight fish from. Very informative video
