This game! THIS GAME! Yes. Why can’t video games be like this anymore. The ship design was amazing, and the stream of color behind every spaceship was such a nice touch. Those Naboo fighters are beautiful!
I agree. The only other game I can think of that had the same kind of aesthetic with the ship streams was Starfox Assault. But what really makes this game special is the varied ship designs and the unique HUD you get per ship, it really makes it feel like you're piloting a new ship. Each one has it's own "R2D2" esque robot.
@@SaltedMallows The original Homeworld (1999) had those ship trails a few years before this game came out (2001). Maybe these developers took inspiration.
Its honestly so fuckin cozy reliving old games without the stress of actually worrying about your performance, it's like when I was a kid watching the older kids beating the game
Steel sharpens steel. You're only as good as the games you play. Today games are harder so these games are a walk in the park now. I remember struggling in Doom back in the day. Now it's easy (albeit still fun).
I went back recently to play Commander Keen, a series I completed as a child. I struggled to complete the first level! I didn’t remember it being that hard. Age is one of those things people don’t really think of for difficulty. I’ve stopped playing online shooters as my reflexes can no longer keep up with teenaged players. As you reach your 30’s you will start to struggle against 15 y/o players. By the time you are in your 40’s you will be lagging noticeably behind. To keep your reflexes quick enough you have to be doing exercises which will take up more and more time. Time that in your adult life is spent working or with family. Basically, the game industry today is focusing on the lowest ages they can because they bring in the big bucks.
No other feeling could match the nostalgia of reliving the glory of simpler times. No worries, no bills, just your home, tv, games like these and snacks.
My brother had this game. I played it many times but never finish it, I found it difficult back then, but I always remembered it. 20 years later, I'm adding the game to my collection.
@@Moonlakes My dad was actually obsessed with this game when I was a kid, and we both found it to be pretty difficult, but he would spend many long hours playing this game. I’m pretty nostalgic for those days.
The actor Charles claverie died only 3 years after this game in 2005. He did a lot of voice work and played a lot of minor roles in movies and TV shows. When I Google searched him I recognized his face from some TV shows and movies I saw. His death was ruled a suicide :/
I'm sorry about you committing suicide Charlie Rockets. Thank you for voicing Nym in this game and Ajax in Age of Mythology. You really helped us all bring out the badass instincts in us when we were kids
Nym took back his base 10 Years later while helping Jedi Master Adi Galla deal with a Captain Cavik Toth & his mercenary army that was working with the Trade Federation developing a weapon of Mass Destruction: Trihexalon a Hex weapon capable of total Bio-Mass Conversion. One vial of the stuff could kill 300 Wookiee’s.
I remember this was the first game I used analog controls for. it took me forever to realize I couldn't control the ship with the D pad, such nostalgia I love both of the star fighter games so much !!!
This game released when I was in high school, and I remember aching for the school day to be over, just so I could play this game. Graphically, the opening stage absolutely blew me away. The sequel is amazing, and probably objectively better, but I'll always like this one more due to the nostalgia I have for it.
Did anyone else remember flying backwards on the first mission and finding pictures of random stuff? Idk if it was a dream or actually in the game, but I have a memory of flying the wrong way on the first mission and seeing tons of what I can only describe as paintings displayed as you fly the wrong way. It also could have been the tutorial, idk....
Fianlly found it!!!!!! I used to llay this when i was little. I had a dream where i played that game i wake up and instantly googled it. Now im gonna find my ps2 in my parents house attic and play this!!!!
I remember this game and remember how hard it was when I was little. I couldn't play it anymore since the disc broke somehow. Ah, good memories indeed 🥺😊
good game. could never beat the last level tho. always thought that the cut scenes were a little wonky until i literally realized just now that this game came out in 2001, got the game in like '05 so i just always assumed that's when it came out lol
Do you only pilot the naboo N-1 through out every level of this game I was nearly going to get this as I only played it at my mates house but only got passed the training mission back in the day I played battlefront 1&2 original and bounty hunter and the rogue squadron trilogy
I can appreciate needing to know when you're missiles have locked their target, but hearing the game go "boobooboo" every time the reticle turns red gets really annoying after a while.

Agreed great games Star Wars had early 2000.
I would make games the way they used to be a long time ago, especially in a galaxy far, far away....

Not everyone has the same level of game competency, especially by age. Try pitching this game to a senior citizen hehe

You're absolutely crazy to think games today are harder than older games.

After Book of Boba Fett 5 ...and seeing the n1 .... I instantly brought my ps2 back to life...so glad that I didn't sell this game ...pure nostalgia
Yup just got done playing mine not long ago
Only real ones remember this game
hell ye i played this when i was 10 or so, on my dads ps2 secretly when both my parents were at work!
@@Moonlakes My dad was actually obsessed with this game when I was a kid, and we both found it to be pretty difficult, but he would spend many long hours playing this game. I’m pretty nostalgic for those days.
Sadly i only played the demo
I played this shit on XBOX. I wanted to be a pilot when I grow up. So I had these type of games
I remember this being a very fun game. Imma check if it’s on new consoles
I like how Duel of the fates is playing during just the tutorials
And in the sequel Is playing un the last mission lol
25:00 First appereance of Nym... He is 100% canon
I played as LT. Sykes in Battle for Naboo and then Rhys in Starfighter, Im practically a seasoned veteran of Naboo lol
My first PS2 game. I remember it was a night and day difference from playing the ps1 Vs ps2 games. Really wish this game had a sequel.
Jedi Starfighter is its sequel... sort of
24:36 This was the cutscene I was having flashbacks about, which is what made me go looking for this game.
Nym was my favorite, that voice is AWESOME!

Why kill himself?
There was a really cool companion comic series to this game that followed Nym. Really good.
@@Dsturb85I always knew him as Charles Rocket he was also in dumb and dumber
Oh man this takes me waaay back.
I LOVED playing with Darth Maul's ship. It was so fast and was insanely powerful!
Bro this was the 3rd game I bought for my ps2 and holds a special place in my heart.....ah nostalgia....:)....:(...:(.. :?
I loved this game as a kid and Starwars: Jedi Starfighter
I'm sorry about you committing suicide Charlie Rockets. Thank you for voicing Nym in this game and Ajax in Age of Mythology. You really helped us all bring out the badass instincts in us when we were kids
Every time I play or see this game, I'm 5 years old again. Amazing memories
Bro that mission you have to protect the turrets was a pain in the ass for me as a kid. Not to mention flying in the TF core ship.

Phenomenal game but I’ve always wondered why was Rhys not in the next game???
Sound design is amazing 😮
Great memories playing this game hope it gets remastered soon
It’s compatible with the Series X.
Such a amazing game for the time. I miss stuff like this
I remember in the last level I beat the mercenary leader and made it so close to the exit but some random explosion took me out
Please. PLEASE remaster this gem of a childhood game.. 😩🔥
I remember when I was a kid I love to play this game even the retro Star Wars games that I grew up with are the early 2000s

Hi! This game really needs a remake or a remaster. Do you agree with me too?

One of the best games of all time.
These characters have a lot of personality.
Why can't this game get a remaster
