Thank you for your kinds words! One of the things that makes me appreciate Brendan Perry is that, in his performances, he always plays songs that most of his listeners have no idea even exist! ... Even alternative versions of already recorded songs. That's why I enjoy sharing and finding people who have the same passion for Perry's music as I do. He is definitely my favourite artist... his lyrically, spiritual and beautiful enchanting songs constantly make me miss playing his music every time, and his authenticity only deepens that appreciation. I also share the same feeling in discovering his music I hadn't heard before, it's always a surprise and fills me with joy!
Perry probably realized he could not do better than Ark, so he didn't even try. Thanks for sharing this high quality recording Vanderlei - I caught both of his solo tours also here in Toronto. - the Ark tour was performed by the band virtually identical to the album - no liberties taken. He shouldn't have bothered doing covers though.
I was also impressed by how they played the songs live the same way as in the studio version, they came very close to it. How I wish a new album could come after Ark... never say never. In the solo gigs he did in 2019, he played some new songs, songs he had never played before, like ‘The Rising Tide.’ Probably a next album after Ark would be similar to Ark, which I would welcome very well. Well, in the end, we can only wait... who knows, with time, we might have some news.
No, they haven’t been a couple since 1989, but they maintain a mature friendship, which has been beneficial for both. This is one of the reasons why Dead Can Dance continues to this day.
