I'm eyeing this griddle now as my first griddle. My biggest requirement is that I can use natural gas with it and it looks like I only have 2 options for that, the halo or the blackstone. And I can get a pretty good discount on the halo right now so it seems like the way to go.
You redeemed that griddle in my eyes! I didn’t think it was going to be all that good based on the first video of it… we’ll see how it comes along! You make it all look easy/good, you two!
So I was sitting on my back patio. Looking at my Traeger I started thinking about your first couple videos on the Halo. Then I did the same exact thing in my mind. I started thinking about the pros and cons and the upside was there I thought. Well if he can show people how to use the burners to their advantage on the Halo it would surely elevate my rating of it. Smiling, thinking, I was like "He is the Flat Top King" If it can be done he will do it. And sure enough you did it. I have found that grilling, griddling etc. has exploded the last several years and become very popular. So much so that I can see my self owning a couple of them. I love my Traeger too. I keep thinking someone will reach out to you for the ultimate griddle, that would be the one to own! Great Job!

I've enjoyed watching your viewpoint on the Halo, I personally love mine. Yep, it runs hot, but the recovery is amazing, and you are so right to know your Temps and use them going up and down. I use mine for a couple of hours at a time when I am doing meals and meal prep. I am for sure trying that pancake recipe. Have a great one!
Really appreciate the in-depth analysis of this griddle, especially your emphasis regarding the heat zone management. Everything you cooked looked delicious, so it can be done. Just not the griddle for us. That being said, I visited my local Ace store today and was wowed by the beastly Traeger on display. I hope to have my new Traeger griddle by week’s end. Thanks for all you do for the griddling community!
Great cook. Those pancakes looked on point. Glad you explained what you did to control the temps. Yes, it probably takes awhile to figure it out but once you do it's probably like anything else and you just know what to do. Thanks for the vid.

When the Master takes on new equipment, there is no doubt he will find the sweet spots and make it produce in good form. That is why all of us watch and learn with the FTK. Heat zone management is the key to good griddlin, as I learned, it balances the timing and as you said, you cannot do it on any griddle without an infrared heat gun to keep track of your temps. Dale Earnhart, whom I spent time with, used to be asked how fast could his car could go, his answer was always the same, "speed costs, how much do you want to spend" same with griddlin.
Hey, King. I had chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and country gravy today for lunch at the Ramstein Air Base Officers' Club. I am 1,000% sure that yours is better. Keep up the great work! Peace out.
Good Evening from Whistler MS!! The big breakfast looks awesome!! Looks like it’s going to be a big learning curve with the Halo but it looks like an awesome griddle!!
Awesome video as always. I figured it would grow on you. It sure is a lot of fiddling around to get temps. But people like to cook in offsets too for the same reasons. Keep up the great videos.
Nice job. Looks like the Halo is more work than I want... as far as playing with the burners and Temps. I know my hot spots on my Blackstone and it's just easier to move the food around. Learned that from you. Thanks
Amazing Video Neal and Amy. I could eat breakfast anytime of the day. Neal, you have that new Halo down to a science. You both do a great job on your channel. As far as your question about which way I lay my bacon? I will one day, be able to answer that question. Awesome Video Y'all.

Great huge breakfast Neal! Those pancakes look so light and fluffy. Monitoring the zones is a must with a griddle that thick. I think more adjustments of the flame would be a great benefit. Awesome cook and temp feedbacks too! Cheers buddy!
Glad I was eating breakfast while watching this. Didn't leave any teeth marks or slobbers on the computer this time around. You really nailed it this time on the new Halo Griddle. You have the square dancing and hoe down and all the fixins turned out puuuurfect. Thanks for sharing with us, keep up the good work and recipes and videos coming and keep the taste tester too she makes you look good. Fred.
Wow that’s a great breakfast 👍🏽 Neal everything looks so delicious. After a breakfast like that I guess that l would skip lunch time.😂 Great cook Neal. Yesterday I used that Smashed That seasoning and it was a hit with everyone here.
Great video, love how you controlled the heat and had things timed perfectly. I have been thinking about buying a second griddle as the Blackstone I got about month ago is at our summer weekend place and I originally thought I would be OK just using it on weekends until we close up in the Fall, then bring it home. Now I miss having it during the week and am considering another Griddle. I just wonder if the Halo's learning curve is too steep for my rookie griddle skills or if I choose that I would quickly get it figured out. Thanks for the great honest and informative videos on all things Griddle!
I love it! Awesome looking breakfast. I must say that I love how Neal has all his notes hand written down. Now that's getting down and dirty! And I love how Amy has to straighten the hat to keep everything looking good. Honestly this is my favorite cooking channel and Amy and Neal you guy's are as real as they come!!! God bless.
Love the build and features of the griddle. Have you been in contact with the manufacturer about changes and modification to help temp control in future models?
hahahaha lord no...they could care less what I have to say...I dont think they are very happy with me after my review with the heat..but that happens sometimes...
@@TheFlatTopKing I have to check. I couldn’t get the oil to smoke on it last time. Could hold my had 2 inches without much heat. So probably around 300. I definitely check the tubes and the regulator thanks
I put my bacon on diagonally, I take a different slant on life. It may have taken more work than you anticipated, but it looks like that griddle works pretty well once understood.
Mmmmmmm, That looked like a great breakfast, but I not much of a fan of that griddle for me anyway, just looks to complicated. For you it looks just great and that breakfast looks just terrific and delicious too, I'm sure you and Amy enjoyed it. Take care.
Been waiting to see this video. Major Kudos for a well executed cook Brotha! And I totally agree with Amy, you nailed those pancakes. Can’t wait for the Traeger comparison video, cheers y’all 👊🏼😎🤙🏼
Well, I'll just say that I'm glad I didn't get this griddle as my first one. The heat control as you demonstrated is just too tedious for me to deal with. I certainly have not learned temperature management with my Blackstone yet, but on Low, it's low, and still I hate to have to fiddle with it sometimes! In the hands of an experienced Griddlemaster, you aced it, man! Very impressive, but I don't like my bacon that done. I like some jiggle to it! 😜 Thanks Neal!
That breakfast looks wild. The pancakes looked great I agree, but damn they sound good when the flopped on the grill after the flip. You inspired me to get a FTG900 from campchef. Looking forward once my pool deck is finished to set it up and get started!!
I had decided my next griddle was going to be a Pit Boss Deluxe. Now I am watching you deal with Halo's heat. Hmmmm. The research is as much fun as the cooking. Well....maybe.
Looking very much forward to the upcoming comparisons between this Halo and the Traeger. I'm leaning very hard toward the Traeger. I want a consistent griddle that can remain at low temps. I do not want to have to finesse temps via knob adjustments, etc. If I were to have Neil's skills? Less of an issue. I'm just a backyard Dad-cook, though. I'd be shocked if anything tops the Traeger for me, though the Weber is still in the running for me, due to price point and even performance.
I think you will have to always mess with the temp on any griddle. I really like the idea of the Loco Griddle with the digital temp. But at the last minute I changed my mind. I'm so glad I did. The Halo 4B is a very nice griddle. The shelves are the weakest thing I think. With the Traeger the shelves don't go down at all so if you're looking to have more space by lowering a shelf tough luck. On top of that you have to plug it in for the tank setup. Then u have to keep it plugged in to ignite the griddle. Like I said there's pros and cons to both. I've just found more cons than Pros on the Traeger. Good luck on your choice.
Hey bud...all about it...but lets correct some really BIG information..NO being rude just being honest.. 1..the shelves absolutely fold down completely...straight flat down... 2. Although you have to have power that is ONLY for the propane sensor...it does not need power to operate...I do not use mine plugged in ever.. I have a review on this griddle and mentioned or showed this about the shelves and power...
Great video Neil, I was just getting ready to pull the trigger on the Halo when your last video came out about it being too hot. I will admit the review substance turned me off a bit. Like you say its about choice, you can get a 4 cylinder motor 6, or 8 hemi, you have control and the horsepower when needed ie; stir frying, smash burgers etc.. Todays video was again great it was full of useful information and technique. PS I did purchase the Halo 4B and super glad I did. Now looking forward to learning your techniques to master it!
Doing a big breakfast Saturday morning and making my boudin omelettes. Also going to make the wife some pancakes for the first time on the griddle. 😮💨
Im so conflicted, I want to like the Halo for all the extra features it has, and it seems possible to deal with the high temps, but with a lot more finesse than it seems is required with other griddles (based off of binging all your other videos). As a first time griddler I feel like I'd be better off with a different, more user friendly griddle, where I don't have to adjust my temps so much. And it looks like you've solved one of the main problems with the Traeger with the holes in the side with the bench scrapers. So I keep going back and forth with the Halo 4B, Traeger, and Camp Chef 600 4 burner.
Everyone has options...your comment is well said and deep thought for sure...I love the Traeger...they know it too...i dont hide my favorites anymore...its Traeger 1, Weber 2 and Halo 3...because of exactly what you just said...ease and comfort of griddling...
I have had my 2 burner for a month and a half now, and still trying to figure it out. smash burgers have come out good, but had some trouble with hashbrowns.Afraid to try pancakes but will eventually. Chicken fried rice came out....ok. But like I said....trying to figure it out. Going to eventually get a 4 burner!!!
I have always preached....get the 4 burners...just has so much more real estate that I think actually helps certain cooks because the pace of it...better heat retention.etc
@@TheFlatTopKing not the 9"-12" switch that comes with it...a real regulator. They are like $15. I have one on my Blackstone and it makes it much more flexible to crank up for searing and simmer down for eggs/pancakes.
Looks great! Every time you make omelets I get taken back to breakfast in the mess hall. I loved the ham and cheese omelets. Any chance you can use those recipe cards of yours and make other favorites? Porcupines or Yankee Pot Roast?
"Bacon Dust" should be classified as a felony. It's like taking a Prime grade steak and ordering it well-done. I get twitchy every time I see Neil violate the sanctity of the Lord's bacon.
I don't know if you tried this yet, but I'm anxious to know if you did and if it worked. It may have got lost in all the other comments. You mentioned previously that there was an adjustment for the amount of propane flow from the tank. You said you had it fully open. Have you tried to turn it to low along with the low temp setting to see if your Temps got lower to acceptable levels.
No sure the misconnect..or where I said that...I have had the Halo on 9.5 since the first cook...i haven’t needed a reason for the 11 so far...it 660 on an upcoming video..hahahaa Can you point me in that comment...i need to correct it...thanks bud,,
Awesome job taming the beast! With a spatula in one hand and the other twisting knobs - how would I hold my beer?? 36" Weber on the way for me boss. Halo is sweet, but way too much "thinking." Flatrock is awesome, but not enough real estate on the griddle surface.
I looked at the Halo manual online and after watching your videos cannot understand why they recommend the higher setting. It looks like you could only get down to reasonable temps using 9.5" rather than 11". Has Halo commented or explained their recommendation?
NO they have not...nothing but HATE from some halo fans...Their response was corporate speak...neutral with hopes of more favorable outcome in the future...I will say the comment said that they appreciate honest and open reviews...not sure they liked mine...but like you said...I only did what the manual said..the other thing is we could not find videos to put the unit together...even all the scan codes just took you to the website...
This might be a dumb question but do you think the Halo would run a little cooler if you used the Natural gas conversion kit? I want to buy my first griddle but ill being using natural gas because my back patio has a natural gas quick connect.
Have you researched the LoCo griddle? Digital temperature knobs instead of just guessing high, medium and low. Is this on your list of griddles to cook with and compare?
It is not...I have several people in our griddle group that say just because it has a temp on the dial does not mean thats the temp on the griddle...kina thing...struggles to maintain temps...needs power to operate..
I'm eyeing this griddle now as my first griddle. My biggest requirement is that I can use natural gas with it and it looks like I only have 2 options for that, the halo or the blackstone. And I can get a pretty good discount on the halo right now so it seems like the way to go.
I have the Halo portable and it works perfectly. With both burners on I can run a temperature from 300 degrees to 600 degrees.
I love that little shelf!
You did an amazing cook! It wasn't that long ago you feared that griddle, it's too hot! Those pancakes came out even, perfection right there. Sold!
Thanks so much! HAHHAHA>>>TOO HOT on high...we just seasoned...when cooking we wouldn’t use those temps...whole different ball game...

Do you miss your camp chef flat top? Great cook as always!!!
i miss it more for feelings...than the actual unit...it was my first and kinda launched me to this point...
Doing a big breakfast Saturday morning and making my boudin omelettes. Also going to make the wife some pancakes for the first time on the griddle. 😮💨
Hey thats great...cheers...i need to try that Boudin...never have
Awesome job brother! PS... I hope you didn't eat all that food🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣((yes, still watching))
ahahhah heck no...great in laws...
Great Breakfast, but where are the grits?
Nice cook Neal that HALO is looking tempting - Oh and I go "Both Ways" ( Bacon silly) LOL
hahhaha I appreciate that...maybe diagonally
@@TheFlatTopKing it’s helpful to know your rankings thank you
I have had my 2 burner for a month and a half now, and still trying to figure it out. smash burgers have come out good, but had some trouble with hashbrowns.Afraid to try pancakes but will eventually. Chicken fried rice came out....ok. But like I said....trying to figure it out. Going to eventually get a 4 burner!!!
I have always preached....get the 4 burners...just has so much more real estate that I think actually helps certain cooks because the pace of it...better heat retention.etc
I put the bacon parallel with the way the grease flows, depends on where the grill is.
Thank you
Awesome video. Thank you. I like the wooden handle scraper. Where did you pick that up?
that came from a kit Traeger sent me....
Have you considered a regulator on the propane? I think the burners are fantastic for even heating, just a little too much btu.
Well it comes with it......
I can...we might make something coming soon...they are actually available on the internet as well..only problem is its in quantities of 100
Bacon dust, cheesy omelette, crispy hash browns, and fluffy pancakes... Awesome breakfast! 👍😊
"Bacon Dust" should be classified as a felony. It's like taking a Prime grade steak and ordering it well-done. I get twitchy every time I see Neil violate the sanctity of the Lord's bacon.
Thank you Bobbi
NOW....that does seem like a strech...bacon dust for the win...Prime 122 degrees for the win...
No sure the misconnect..or where I said that...I have had the Halo on 9.5 since the first cook...i haven’t needed a reason for the 11 so far...it 660 on an upcoming video..hahahaa Can you point me in that comment...i need to correct it...thanks bud,,
Any chance you guys have looked into the Cuisinart 360 XL Griddle?
Not yet...
Awesome job taming the beast! With a spatula in one hand and the other twisting knobs - how would I hold my beer?? 36" Weber on the way for me boss. Halo is sweet, but way too much "thinking." Flatrock is awesome, but not enough real estate on the griddle surface.
hahahaha I hear ya...I think you will be really happy...like a set it and forget it...great on low....and gets the job done on high..
@@TheFlatTopKing As always - you're the man. Thank you so much for the help choosing. Now off to your recipes!
Have you tried lowering the PSI on the regulator yet? I would love to see a temp comparison between the two settings. Yummy looking pancakes!
Neal said near the end of the video that he was cooking with the regulator set on the 9.5” WC setting.
Yes its been on 9.5 for all the cooks...
This might be a dumb question but do you think the Halo would run a little cooler if you used the Natural gas conversion kit? I want to buy my first griddle but ill being using natural gas because my back patio has a natural gas quick connect.
I have heard that...for all griddles....i dont have that option...
You almost need a Decoder Ring for On and Off on the knobs for heat
hahaha just like most things...once you learn it...you just cook...but no doubt it does take some additional love
