Hey Christine, recent subscriber and viewer. I have been contemplating going to either RIU PALACE LAS AMERICAS, Cancun or RIU PALACE BAHA CALIFORNIA, Cabo San Lucas for a 7-day stay. I am drawn to the Cancun location, because the beach and ocean area are much more "protected" and you can swim and wade in the area vs the complete opposite in Cabo San Lucas. Good reviews at the Cancun location and good everything. Similar "visitation rights" to the other near RIU properties. QUESTION: Which would you select and why?? Thanks in advance and keep up the great work. 😎⛹️♀️🤸♂️🚴♂️
Hi Clarence! They're both great resorts but very different in terms of aesthetic and swimmability. The downside to Riu Palace Las Americas (RPLA) is that it gets afternoon shade on the main pool and it's an older resort. The Riu Palace Baja California (RPBC) is sort of the opposite in that it has very little shade BUT you can always go over to the other Palace property and hang out at their pool. Cancun beaches are so beautiful and, with so many sister properties that you can hang out at, you have lots of options for swimming. Both destinations have plenty of neat places to go for a beer or a stroll, but if swimming in the ocean is important to you, then it's Cancun for the win. Hope that helps!
Hi Mark! Yes they do have lots of options but a lot of these might include items from buffet-style service. As long as it’s more of a dietary preference and not a serious health issue, you should be fine. Otherwise, to avoid cross-contamination from utensils, I’d suggest eating at the a la carte restaurants for dinner and explaining your dietary requirements to the server so they can make sure the kitchen is fully aware.

Yes I think I’ve stayed at all but the Riu Caribe and I think they all have great buffet options!!
