    The casuals will sleep better at night thinking Jones is scared. 16 years in with Goat credentials in his late 30's. He doesn't need to fight Aspinal at his point for legacy, so if its not legacy its money. I think Jones should fight him, we'd all love to see it, but he's not as backed into a corner as some believe. He's already cemented...

    • @samsschool3639

      Indeed, Jon would win but would suffer a lot of injuries due to the young buck probably being more active, he wants maximum profit at this point which he has earned, unlike Tyrone Woodley that wanted that after his first winning the belt and got hated for it

    • @Monztxr

      The casuals can’t comprehend the fact Jon’s legacy, as impressive as it is, was built on fighting blown up middleweights he had a significant physical advantage over. If you count the DQ loss as a win (because he clearly was winning), he'd be 29-0 like Khabib with a resume that is 100 times better than Khabibs. People have DC as a top 10 fighter all time and Jones beat him twice and just stopped Stipe who beat DC twice also. The only 2 guys to beat DC. I think Jon beats Tom and it does nothing for his legacy just like not fighting him would. In the short term it matters, but 10 years from now it won't matter either way. Five things can be true
    1.) Jon doesn’t need Tom, he’s cemented and this fight doesn’t help his legacy, he walks away 28-0-1 it’s over with and he will be remembered fondly in due time, despite his outside the octagon issues.
    2.) Tom is a bad match up and has all the elements to beat Jones and likely would.
    3.) Jon is not afraid of Tom Aspinal, stop it yall
    4.) UFC should pay Jon 20+ it’s the right thing to do, and with that and Aspinal likely winning, he would be passed the proverbial crown and beat the GOAT, great way for the promotion to now have the next big cash cow who beat Jones.
    5.) Fans are lying, Alex Periera vs Jon is absolutely as big of a fight, and I’ll go out on a limb to say it’s NOT easier. Styles make fights, and that fight has a lot of implications. If Alex wins he’s the first three division champion and has an argument for the GOAT himself after wining kickboxing world titles and UFC world titles. Tom has a healthy level of respect for Alex for a reason, he puts people’s lights out, that fight is no way an easier fight for Jones.

      @ Gane is 100% one of the best heavyweights. He turned Francis into a wrestler and he’s beaten everyone else. Stipe looked “slow” because of Jon. Jon was breaking him down with strikes stipe doesn’t see from other heavyweights. It’s crazy that Jon goes and fights Gane (#1 contender at the time) then all the sudden he’s a bum. Then Jon goes and man handles the greatest heavyweight of all time which has never happened and now it’s just because stipe was old. Certain people will never get the credit they deserve. If he fights and beats aspinall it will be because he was young and has never been passed the 2nd round. Then they will find someone else who they think could beat him. It’s a never ending cycle

      @billj4525 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The talent of Jons competition is insane. People have been undefeated, but no one at the top in boxing has ever faced his kind of competition every fight for their whole careers. It's important to note how easily things can go wrong in an MMA fight. It's so much easier to lose in mma, it only takes one tiny mistake or one lucky shot. Not losing in MMA is just totally different than in boxing. You can see how a guy could go undefeated in boxing, but in mma it sounds almost impossible over enough fights vs tough competition. Jon does officially have one loss, that's true. Your point is true though. There are many boxers who have been undefeated, but no top mma fighters other than Jon have, if you don't count that loss I mean, then 0 have. That stat tells you something. It tells you how much easier it is to do in boxing compared to mma.

Then Jon tore his pectoral but the fight was already made between Jon and Stipe but got push back because of Jons injury. Honestly Tom should have never got the interim champ belt because they knew Jon was coming back and Tom fought a #8, #5 and #4 ranked in the last 2 years he should have fought Cirly who was #2 and then that person should have fought the winner of Jon and Stipe. You act like Tom is this great well rounded fighter when hes not and here your making excuses for Stipe saying hes old yet there is a bigger gap between Jon and Tom. Jon is far from scared of Tom and if you think that your lost and again don't know anything about fighting lol. You also act like Jon needs to fight Tom well he doesn't Tom has a fake belt everyone knows the interim championship is not a real belt if anything like many UFC fighters and older UFC fighters have said Jon is not scared, doesn't need to prove anything and if anything Tom needs this fight way more than Jon does because Tom does not have the real belt.

    A couple of things:
    1. Nobody is saying that Jon Jones is personally afraid of Tom Aspinall. They’re stating their displeasure of Jon turning down the defending interim champion to take on a bigger name with a gaping hole in his game that Jon can exploit without unifying the belt that Jon kicked down the door to get. (DC may not be undefeated, but he never turned down the tougher fight)
    2. The Aspinall fight absolutely helps Jon’s legacy by if we wins, it paves the way for him to hold the consecutive title defense record in 2 divisions. (And unlike his 205 campaign, he could maybe say that his heavyweight run was drug free with a straight face)
    3. This one might be a little petty, but using Michael Jordan as an example would not apply because MJ played on a team which would mean that there is no world where he would ever have a say about who they play.
    4. Please stop saying that “we’re” crying about fighter pay. YOU’RE crying about fighter pay. We’re indifferent at best.
