Ah, escher waterfalls are so cool. Reminds me of a time someone I was watching had a naturally occurring escher waterfall on their water planetoid. Collapsed the entire planet worth of water in a small space before he noticed what was going on.
it would be pretty funny if they added an update with fusion mechanics into the game and that using the infinite fluid/gas/solid storage techniques it would just _do fusion_ after a certain amount per tile is reached
fusion would only occur if the material or fluid contained high enough hydrogen as parts of the molecule, so that would only be the case for pure hydrogen and some hydrocarbons since water is not hydrogen dense enough
@@Mac33299 funny story, but the fact remains that any material can undergo fusion as long as it's dense(and hot) enough, you'll find fusion sequences online that produce carbon and iron from non-hydrogen substances. In fact you can fuse things heavier than iron but these take more energy than they produce and the forces required aren't found in a star. But as humans we've already managed to make artificial gold through lab experiments, just at one million times the cost it would take to just find it and refine it. And the idea that you would spontaneously have this is both a balance mechanic and a potential new feature to play around with

And in general some non hydrogen-rich element could undergo fusion Its just that hydrogen-rich material tends to be easier to get going. FYI: Iron could be undergo fusion but you don't gain any energy from it But it certainly would be an interesting mechanic in the game

I've seen the Escer Waterfall built on the bottom of the geyser. It doesn't require the natural tile, which is huge considering that not all of them are buried.
What happens if you somehow broke one of the doors, either accidentally or intentionally? Would all that compressed water come squirting in all directions like a massive tsunami?
Yes, that is exactly what would happen. All that compressed water would spread out very quickly. As quickly as the game engine allows. I opened up a bunch of (much smaller) infinite storages in my April 1st video :D
1 question in the 5:14 setup: Will water outside the room run out if no more water adding? Because if it run out, the air will flow out and water in the room will be everywhere
That is a good question! No, the water will stay put. A natural air lock is formed where the entrance to the storage is. As long as you don’t mop the ground beside the entrance or evaporate the water with heat it will stay there forever :)

Good you showed the D Regarding the storing of large amounts of liquids or gases: I think i tested gases up to 3million or billion and liquids-> i stored the water planet in a single tile. So at least that much doesn't let the game crash

I know this video is old but if you take the same design you have in the beginning of the video and flip it so the storage is on the other side, then even without automation the pump won't break the waterfall. With how you have them placed, the pump can take the liquid from the bottom of the waterfall and release the gas. If the whole thing is flipped, then the pump can't reach that tile.

Would a normal tile two spaces to the right not work? And 2nd, is there a version of this that works with gases? I've seen stuff about "bead pumps", but I don't fully get them, and they're not 100% power free like this is. So, in short, what are my options if I already cleared rhe geyser, and how can the same thing be applied to gases? Hey! First of all thanks for the sub and I'm happy you enjoy my content! The natural tile in this specific location(the second tile from the right above the neutronium) is definitely the preferred and easier version. But, it is entirely possible to create an Escher Waterfall at a Geyser/Vent without any natural tiles at all. I know you said you already watched my Let's Play, but I will link the specific video again in which I built exactly that, Escher Waterfall with a Geyser without any natural tiles in case somebody else had the same question and stumbles upon this comment: th-cam.com/video/umbonwNZu9Y/w-d-xo.html&t This is LP1-EP32 and here I build the entire setup, two episodes later, in LP1-EP34 I actually turn it on and make it functional. Both videos have timestamps to help you find exactly what you need in seconds. In short, it works by creating the Escher waterfall by building a manual airlock one tile to the right of the neutronium and building the infinite storage(either with more manual airlocks or, in my case, with airflow tiles) right below it. Two tiles need to be above and to the left of the manual airlock to hold the gases. Let the reservoir fill to the neutronium and then introduce the gases through the deconstruction of gas pipes in the two tiles beside the mentioned airlock door. For your question about gases, I'm looking into making a video on bead pumps and other methods of liquid and gas movements, so stay tuned for that. This would be too much for a comment, haha :D
The big water spout thing you made would be cool to recycle a set amount of magma/coolant through the walls of an area without using power to cool/heat.
@@BierTier I only had the idea at all thanks to my absolutely botched frozen forest miniroid start. All died of hypothermia-related incidents before I could get them to the magma core/make enough heavy machinery to warm them up.
so for the waterfall pump, you need todo this in a storage of whatever liquid u want to pump and not have the escher waterfalls on both sides of a geyser/volcano or can it be done from the geyser/volcano as well? my volcano is too close to the bottom of the map to have a petroleum boiler in the area so was looking for a way to pump the magma up to a good space for it
It can be done in many different ways. Build it first and introduce whatever liquid later or directly at a geyser/volcano with or without a natural tile etc. etc. If you need help with your specific issue, a screenshot would probably get you the fastest help. It's hard to work off of a description alone :) You can post it in my Discord if you want and one of us will help you as soon as we can :)

Amazing use of in game mechanics. I had a question, as I like going back to my older bases and improving them. I want to implement this on those gyser that I had already excavated, can I close them up as you have encased your geyser and build a normal tile after the gyser and then build the water pump are? Will it work?

In case you're wondering when will Integer overflow happen: It won't because ONI code stores mass in floats not integers, so the max is about 3e38

It works with any Fluid, I just used those as examples. The steam will have to liquify first, but then it’s the exact same :)

Das waere definitiv moeglich. Thermale Masse hat man da nach einer gewissen Zeit ohne Ende. Kann man sehr kreativ einsetzen wenn man den will ;)

Why does the waterfall design used locked manual airlocks and not more insulated tiles?
Insulated Tiles would break under the pressure and airflow tiles would not keep the gas in place. Manual Airlocks never break under any pressure.
do your own geysers make more?
Best use case I can think of is the magma planetoid. Get down, build one of these, suck all the magma in, mine in comfort.
That is definitely a viable use case. Or the water planetoid, just suck it all up and not worry about it anymore :)
