Great vacation and finds! Kuttner and Moore, Garrett, Simak, van Vogt, DeCamp, Campbell, Zelazny, I lost track - wow. With the condition of these books, I don't feel you went overboard! I think you may have had the most successful book expedition I have seen on TH-cam.
This haul was incredible. That copy of The Stand is amazing! I am on the hunt for a hardcover of the original version. There used to be an Entertainmart near me. I need to make the trek to the other one in my area. Vacations are always better when you spend them looking for books!
"Having nightmares about what I'd left behind". I totally feel that! fantastic haul Ira, that's my kind of vacation! Legacy of Heorot is great fun, a popcorn read.
Sounds like a marvellous holiday and that is a great haul - many hours of happy reading there and some great artwork on some of those editions. I absolutly know that nightmare, of books left behind. Well done on going back, I have never regretted going back for books but I have often regretted not going back for them. The age of the pussyfoot - I have that, I seriously need to read it sometime...
@@sfwordsofwonder National parks? I have heard that the US has some great national parks, aside from the big most famous ones. And three books a week is an excellent effort.
"Warhound and the World's Pain" is a great standalone from Michael Moorcock. A good place to jump on board if you never read him. Margaret St Clair! Those books at the end are all really great. And a lot of the books in your whole have really unusual art- great, interesting, and rarely seen art. QUITE cool! I'm really happy for you!
Dude ... Restaurant at the End of the Universe is the best one in the series, plus it has one of the greatest opening lines ever written. Great video, I'm intrigued by some of these myself!
@sfwordsofwonder haha I 100% get the, "Nightmares about leaving books behind." I've woken up regretting books that were left unpurchased at bookstores that don't exist
Absolutely amazing haul and video. I'm reading Man Plus at the moment actually, didn't realise there was a sequel. That Dream Master cover is incredible. Super jealous of the Silverbergs.
I got them directly from Brodart for the best price. They mostly supply libraries but also sell to the public. I bought a 300' roll, lol, it ends up being around $0.25 per book cover for the book club size. You can also find them at amazon but you will pay a bit more.
A fantastic parade of books. If you read only those books for a year, the variety of ideas and worlds would be incredibly rewarding. That said, I loved Up the Line, and am a big fan of a couple of the Fantasy titles you showed: The Malacia Tapestry by Aldiss, and The Phoenix and the Mirror by Davidson. It's funny - anyone who gets on to D.G. Compton, finds, buys and reads all the Compton I have not yet read. I apparently have approached Compton from the South Pole of books, where you find A Usual Lunacy, Windows, Justice City, Synthajoy, The Steel Crocodile, and Ascendencies...everyone else is coming from the North Pole of books, and finding Chronocules, Farewell, Earth's Bliss, The Missionaries, The Silent Multitude, and The Continuous Katherine Mortenhoe. I actually did read that last one, Mortenhoe - but recently, and well after happening upon the sequel, Windows, decades ago. Anyway, I guess that book is sort of Compton at the Equator, where we should all meet up - but it's weird. It's like the half of Compton I read first, is all the Compton everyone will be reading last. Your book hauls are always fun, and full of classics mixed with hidden gems - looking forward to more.
I still haven't read anything from Compton but will probably start with one of these that I just got. Sometimes its fun to start with an authors best work but then it may be all down hill from there.
Alien Island, Lords of the Psychon. Wild covers, fantastic haul.
Dhalgren : great for getting the fire started on a camping trip.
Love the channel.
Haha, there is definitely enough paper in that one to get a fire going.

Yo, the Wind duology rules. You're gonna love them. Great haul!
Thanks for the tip, never heard anyone talk about the Wind books. Cheers.
That is an incredible lot of Ace specials! Lucky man!
Thanks.

I was surprised to find that Stand at a place like Entertainmart. Vacation book hunting is so much fun. Cheers Joseph.

I planned this exact response, scrolled down, and you beat me to it!
My wife was wondering what was going on as I was tossing and turning, mumbling "Silverberg, Lafferty, Dick..."
So wonderful to see those Ace SF Specials in amazing condition! Great score! So many finds in such a short time. Well done.
I wish I could have met the collector. Seems like we would have had a lot in common.
@ It’s a small world. You might be surprised by someone who knows the collector or the collector themself if this wasn’t an estate issue.

I managed to read 3 books that week as well as check out the local nature sites, it was a great week.

“Having nightmares about leaving books behind”…I know right! 😅enviable haul!
The plight of a collector, haha.

Good to know, I might have to read that Moorcock soon.

Yeah, I will probably need to read Restaurant, thanks for the recommendation.
After watching various Booktubers for the past year I can surmise that there are a lot of books in the world. BO!
Indeed there is.
Incredible condition on a lot of those! What a haul!
How far of a drive is Sandpoint, ID for you, haha.
That's an epic score, man! I couldn't be trusted around that spinner rack; I beat my paperbacks to hell and back. 😅
I'm tempted to put the books back in bags but I like to look at them too much. But... I'm not a book abuser, haha.
Awesome haul!
I might have went overboard but oh well, haha.
@sfwordsofwonder haha I 100% get the, "Nightmares about leaving books behind."

Yeah, those Silverbergs, especially World Inside, that one is mint.
Phenomenal haul. Also weird question but where do you get your clear dust jacket covers? I’ve tried to find some but I have no idea where to start.
