It does not need OIS lol they use their own thing for stabilization and if you look at videos say done by DXOMARK who gave the phone massive scores they show a walking video and it looks like the phone is on a gimbal lol In the “Mi 9 closed-loop motor” there’s an extra position sensor that continuously monitors the position and gives feedback to the VCM. With hand shake, the sensor will immediately inform the VCM and helps increase focus speeds. If you like understanding tech, here’s more reading on this. I think the above video shows almost gimbal levels of stability. At least when walking in one direction.

I was thinking whether I’d like to buy the mix 3 or mi 9. Still can’t choose. Even though I think the mi 9 camera blows the mix 3 camera away but I really like the no notch display of the mix 3. Been a long time since I upgrade my phone. Been using iPhone 5S for so many years now.

Is it mean that EIS can't be activated on both Mi Mix 3 and Mi 9 with 4k 60fps? Then, is EIS can be activated on Mi 9 if it's 1080p 60fps? I'd glad to hear the answer from u, thx!
Download the gcam on the mi mix 3 and enjoy this amazing phone! Mi 9 cameras are definitely better, but tbh not by much, and with the gcam the mix 3 is AMAZING. I ended up choosing the mix because it's just so.much more beautiful and now I can't stand any notch, the teardrop is a gigantic disadvantage for.me Also... Ceramic back, free wireless charger, the magnetic sliding mechanism is crazy good and durable, etc.

I really don't know what to choose... I am leaning more on the Mix 3 side but then when it comes to the camera... I don't know... I'd still rather get the Mix 3 I think that in post-production the photos could be fixed but I don't have proof of that. Somebody help! :D
@@MartijnWester To be honest i was very close on getting the Mi Mix 3 8gb+256 (Chinese version) everything about it is just beautiful, But after watching your video i got to think about it and i could get the Mi 9 explorer edition 12+256 for the same price, The only thing that i don't like about the Mi 9 is the tear notch because its right there, But hey i been using the same iPhone since 2012 and that's another thing i have to deal is switching from Ios to Android
For me a very surprising comparison. I did not expected so huge difference, because last year MI MIX 3 had one of the best smartphone camera (according to reviewers). For my eyes MI MIX 3 photos/videos looks much worse, less colorful, worse in low light conditions, not as sharp images... but still, I do not like the waterdrop notch (MI9) so much - the full screen (MIX3) is just impressive looking! But for me the dealbreaker of MI MIX3 is the weight - it is too heavy. Great video, thank you for that.

Don't care about 5G just want the bigger battery. 8 Hours is too little for a flagship. I see even the Mi 9 owners are having issues with poor standby time, not on screen time. The two are not the same (standby vs onscreen time). Thanks anyways though. Where did you see the 5G version for sale?

@@makrovkrauzer I'd say you will need both cameras. Most gcam only use HDR and HDR+ which take awesome quality photos, but are painfully slow, so forget getting a nice photo of a moving object. The built in camera can take photos without HDR which is faster, but will be grainy or blurry if taken on low light (they are great on well lit conditions). At least the gcam im using (BSG 7.0, downloadable from the cyanogen mod site) doesnt have manual mode so you will still need the stock camera for this. This gcam also has "astrophotography mode" which is just a longer exposure night mode, which take way better night pics than the stock. Another thing, none of the gcams i have tested uses the buil tin flash of the selfie camera, they use the standard approach of turning the screen bright up to light your face. Would be nice a mix 3 custoomized version that allows using the flash (if you want to use it, you will need the stock camera).

The Mix series is the high end model of their phone. There's a good chance a mix 3s is coming or the 5g version that will top the normal MI version

I just got a Chinese rom mi 9 and it does not show any whatsapp notifications at all and automatically changes the ringtone. Any solution?

It's a difficult choice.. i understand you! It really depends how often you use the camera, and if you will miss the wide angle shots for example..
Do not worry. Just download gcam and it should not be that bad for mix3.

No. Close but no. The main sensor is the same Sony imx586 but the tele and ultra wide are different.

It's a shame the Mi 9 doens't have optical estabilisation on the rear cameras. In this video we can see the diference that image estabilisation does.

I use gcam and often the stock camera takes better pictures. With video the stock is way better. So it's almost a hit and miss.
