Im new to the jimny and have watched a lot of videos yours including, any chance you can do a talk through on videos like this one, talk the technical tactics eg what gear ,wheel position and speed. Be a great help to us newbies 👍👍👍 great videos by the way
Hello Umbra, that is a great question. Are you in the market for a brand new version or will you buy second hand? If it's a new 2019 Jimny, yes buy it. It's great. If you are planning on buying a second hand Jimny (older model), and you are planning to go off road, or green laning then yes. It is very capable of mild off roading as standard. There are also fairly cheap off road prepared Jimny's available. If you are buying it as standard, look out for rust. It took me ages to find one with now rust and then to have it done up for me. OR, you can treat the rust by cutting bits out and welding, and buying new bits for it. If you are buying one that has already been off road, take someone who knows about these things with you to have it checked out. If you are planning to buy an older Jimny and drive only on the highway, then I would not buy. They are amazing off road.
@@darrenwilliams2732 Theres a local Offroad group and i plan on going with them but not doing extreme offroad. I am going for an older/ second hand model. 2000-2006. Can it achieve 120km/h and how does it feel at such speeds. Older used models go around 3k in my country which is a lot for me since the coutrny is very poor. My other idea is a Subaru Forester 99 (125hp with dual range gearbox). They sell around 1500 eur and I may lift it 2 inches. The cars will mostly be driven on flat surfaces but when offroad... it wont be the easiest one.
@@moonsapling OK, I would recommend Jimny. You will also have the benefit of a local off road group for support which is great too. Do read up about how to use the 4x4 modes. You will break it if you use it wrongly. Everyday, is 2WD and only when the surface is slippy, it's 4x4 and 4x4low. All the best. I can't wait to see some pictures and maybe videos.
@@darrenwilliams2732 thanks for the advice man! The only thing im scared of is for example this situation. Going back home, heavy rain, sharp corners on a mountain downhill. What do i do. Considering the dhort wheelbase and the RWD may lose control very easily. If its ice, id put in 4hi but in heavy rain... Thats why i though of a subaru, however fuel economy is not great. I think a little suzuki will be more than enough.
Jaberwasp, that's great to hear. My tyres are Insa Turbo Sahara, 215/75/R15. They take me everywhere I need to go as you can see on the videos. I also have a 2 inch suspension lift. If you get tyres that are bigger than this, then you will need to have the gearbox modified to cope with them and that is difficult to get right. I don't want a monster truck. I want to be as basic and as subtle as I can be.
Hi, I'm on 215/75/ R15 Insa Turbo Sahara. They are awesome group but soft on the side wall. This is about the largest you can go without having to re-gear the car which is a difficult job. Most of the people I go out with like the bigger tyres and have adjusted the gears but I have always kept up. I can still drive at 70MPH although I prefer to drive at 50 for economy. You can reduce your top speed and economy with the bigger tyres.

There's a lot more exposed rock on the surface since I was last up there
Yes, that's true. I was last there in the summer time. It looks worse than then to me.
Would you recommend the Jimny as a first car.

Darren Williams In regards to your 2 inch lift, what kit did you go for? Thanks
@@StreetsandTracks I'm not sure of the actual kit as I had someone do it for me.
