  • An original song about industrial decline and the demise of the UK textile industry, seen from the perspective of the Scottish town of Galashiels - once home to some of the biggest brands in international fashion manufacturing. The song is available to stream and download at your favourite music site by clicking here: emubands.ffm.t...
Music was composed by Jimi McRae - Galashiels is his home town. The words were written by McRae's late father, Kenny.
Special mention to guitarist Neil Warden and also producer/drummer David Little of Soundstation Music Studios, Galashiels for helping with the musical arrangement. Thanks also to members of Galashiels Ex-Service Pipe Band and the many other individuals who appear in the video.

I wish you the best, about at 2000, I'd met you, in your land, you was alone, with your pipe, we had a little spoken, and I'd buying your CD : simply names "Jimi the Piper. Sometime, I listen it, it's a great pleasure. Thanks.💐🌞🌸🌱🕊

Oh my, I just realized you sound like Magni Bronzebeard from World of Warcraft! The voice actor who portrays him is not even Scottish, but could have taken lessons from you. That being said, this was brilliant!

Great stuff Jimi (and your da). Do any of the mill buildings survive? Dean Clough in Halifax is a great example of what's possible where there's a will - and enough wedge.

One or two Frank. Mainly residential flat conversions. Gala and the Borders becoming sought after places to stay again thanks mainly, it seems, to the rebuilding and reopening of the old 'Waverley' railway route from Galashiels into Edinburgh. There's serious talk about extending the line down through Hawick to Carlise. Hope it comes off. Cheers Frank.
