    I am a gen Z and I watched this movie one midnight for the first time a few years back and this feature of Madhabi Mukherjee's eye contacts caught my attention too. There was something very intriguing about it.👏
    Mahanagar touched an important theme with an excellent character development and a beautiful cinematography. The film was way ahead of it's times. It was worth staying awake till 4am to finish the whole movie. ❤

    I felt the confidence building in Arati's character. But didn't notice the eye contact thing. Thanks for making this video.

    one of the best closing scenes ever as they blend away into being one of the masses, one of us in the city from being protagonists on the screen -- reel to real -- there is no director in world cinema who can portray the human condition with such mastery
    and the last text that comes is "somapto" in Bengali which means "The End", with the sole bulb shining away its own light in the brightly lit city
    Artist of the highest order - Satyajit Ray!

    True even if i don't mention. Satyajit Ray was a genius in portraying emotions...

    • @LostInTheMovies
      @LostInTheMovies  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, probably in the spring. I should have an announcement video up soon detailing more, as well as further announcements on my site lostinthemovies.com. Where I will also be doing a character series starting early in 2018, written pieces covering different characters every day, going very in-depth on each one (I'm preparing it now and it will build off work I did last year before The Return).

    ১৯৬৩ সালের ছবি, বিশ্বাস করতে কষ্ট হয়। বর্তমানে ২০২২ সালে এসেও এই লেভেলের ডিরেক্টর এবং অভিনেতা পাওয়া সম্ভব না। সাথে ক্যামেরা এঙ্গেল এর প্রশংসা না করলে পাপ হবে। এককথায় সব কিছু মাইন্ড ব্লোয়িং ।।

    Sometimes , people make a director great. Have watched this movie as a kid and found it boring and still do. But my Bong buddies still try to find meaning in everything subtle to make Satyajit Ray look great.

      @@sekharchatterjee3444 Exactly the Academy isn't fool to spot greatness in everything.. Just look at the time this film was made and look at the subject and character development of this movie. But it's useless to argue with a fool. Some people don't have the eye for something like Ray, they are built for masala action scenes and hero-heroines dancing on roads.

    Ray's movies are boring. Too much technical without human touch. That's why no one watches these any more. Of course they speak highly of Ray coz that's fashionable.
