Thank you for this easy detailed instruction video cause if all I had was these instructions included in the box I'd be up the creek. So here it is 6 years later in 2023 & you've saved me Tons of frustration! Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! You're a Rock Star! 🤩👍
This is the only helpful video I’ve come across. Thank you. I couldn’t figure out what side the braces point. You’re the only one who explained that the flat side needs to point up.
Your instructions were spot on. So simply explained and especially the part where we connect the top and bottom you made it look so simple and if followed right they were not difficult. Great video and thanks so much for making our job easier 👏👏
Saved my sanity. The instructions on how to get the top and bottom halves to mate were, to be kind, obscure. Watching you put this together gave me the information I needed to get this put together properly. Edsal should be paying you!
dude, you're a lifesaver. I got the edsal brand 60in from Home Depot and the installation instructions I found online were terrible. couldn't figure out how to put the top and bottom beams together without it falling. your pull up and then hammer method worked flawlessly. I appreciate you. take care.
Thank you! I bought one of these and lost the instructions. This video was perfect, I had it put together in about a half an hour, no confusion, no mistakes, no wasted time trying to figure it out. Big help!
We purchased six of the MuscleRacks from Walmart (four 48x24, two 48x18). My wife and daughter did all the assembly. The biggest problem they encountered was caused by bent metal ends of shelf supports where the rivet heads are attached. The bend in the metal was hard to notice but a slight bend will give you fits as the pair of rivet heads won't socket correctly into the pair the keyholes they're intended to lock into. My advice is to closely examine the pieces before you begin the assembly. Straightening the ends of the supports is easy and it will make the job much less frustrating. Our purchase of six units included a total of 240 rivet-ends on the 120 shelf support pieces. Four or five ends had slight bends that needed straightening.
Thanks Buddy - I bought a couple of these. I opened the box and got everything out. Took a look at the instructions and thought "here's a go" anyway I decided to give it a crack. Needless to say I couldn't make out anything but once I looked at your video a couple of times, I was able to get my shelves together. I just have the top left hand short side which won't slide correctly into position - everything else is perfect - oh well - I'll just stick something light up there ! Thanks again 🙂
Thanks! I bought 4 sets of these at an estate sale. I had to disassemble them and there were no printed instructions. I tried reverse engineering how I took them down, but I hit a wall when it came to attaching the second tier of uprights. I had tapped the third set of crossbars into place, so there was no room to stack the uprights flush. Your instructions on this part saved me. Thanks again. Cheers!
Thank you for this. I just bought the biggest they have of this shelf and my dad is worried I won't have the tools to put it together. I plan to send him this video to prove to him it is easy to put together. Again, thank you. You will have put his mind at ease.
This is the best of the shelf assembly videos I've seen so far. The key is setting the bottom edge of the top post on the top edge of the bottom edge as you tap the braces into the keyholes. The metal is thin (thinner than the old shelves that came with our house), so the top post may slip off as you pound down. Keep trying and it should work if the end isn't bent too badly. You might find that one rivet bottoms out before the other, but that is probably OK as long as it is within the narrow part of the keyhole.
Thank you. Getting the top and bottom together was... well, a lot of swear words were involved with that process and my husband and I may have yelled a bit. Finally I came onto youtube to see if there was help and your video was a lot of help actually. I never dreamed something this simple looking could be so incredibly difficult. I've built a lot of furniture over the years and I think getting the top and bottom together was probably one of the hardest things I've done.
I need to take the time to personally thank you for this video. I cannot believe the awful instructions that came with the shelves. As soon as my girlfriend and I started arguing, I thought about searching TH-cam. You saved our day. THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS
Mine came with couplings for attaching the vertical pieces together. A lot easier (and sturdier) than what you show. The Edsal model number was UR-245PBB (at Home Depot)
I’ve been struggling for days trying to figure out how to assemble this shelf that was given to me. I bought couplers online as I thought it was necessary only to find out they’re the wrong size. No other videos I found showed this. Thank you!
Thank you sooooo much! I had the beams facing outward and I couldn't figure out the correct way to place them from these handwritten instructions with bad pictures.. I am so grateful you took time to make this video :-)
@@uberDoward Thank you! It is in my home office now. You are a master doing it by yourself. My Mom and brother helped me hold pieces in place. Your video was a lifesaver. I am really happy with the finished product. Did you anchor your shelves to the wall?

Awesome. Thank you for showing us this shelf. I have an idea to convert one of these into multiple 4'x18"x2' reptile vivariums with space for storage and heat lamps.
Had a muscle rack already, bought a second one. The new one fit together like the first, but the posts on the new one weren’t deep enough to fit like the first. I slashed my hand and then took a couple of days off from it! Thank you for the vid and the assistance!
Thank you so much. Hammer helped to get them sturdy enough to add the second level. We finally got the couplers to work however as we didn't want a shelf right at the mid-level. Very helpful video.
Thanks for doing this. I bought the same unit. It says something about floor fastener or wall fastener. I really can't put it into the wall, but I was curious about how to fasten it onto the floor. I am really terrible at being a handyman, but I am very appreciate of you doing this and putting it on a video so I can do it.

uberDoward I still can’t get the second posts to attach, so decided to do two shelve ship side by side, and the side pieces still won’t stay attached and I’m wailing on it with a mallet. This product is absolute SHIT. I’d like to take my mallet to MuscleRack and find the POs who greenlighted this product and show them how hard I can swing.
These are a PITA to put together but once they are assembled, they are pretty solid. I found the particle board was too weak for my needs so I had Lowes cut up some 4x8 melamine. Much stronger and makes a better product overall.
Hallelujah!!! A man made a video showing how to assemble these shelves. I had to write Edsal Customer Service twice, before they shared this video. How difficult would it be for Edsal to show this video's 'address' or link on the 1 page of instructions, to assist the person putting the shelf together?? I mean REALLY!!!
Just took mine out of the box, took a look at the directions and then right to TH-cam! Thanks for making this video! Although I paid $84 for one on a Walmart black friday deal ugh. Thought I'd gotten a good bargain until now.

GREAT VIDEO! I could not figure out how to join the top with the bottom. They are easy to assemble and great shelves, I am using them for food storage.
Thanks, I can’t install this with lousy instruction sheet I got in box. Walmart is giving 4 E couplers for extensions. I don’t think we need that and these e couplers make shelf unstable . I like your extension idea better
I ended up just squeezing the tops into the bottom rack. It may be a little unstable but it holds pretty well, especially when I'm using the shelves for medium-light weight storage.
Thanks, I have only put together the type that comes with couplers to attach the top to the bottom. This saved me from having to wait for Edsal to send couplers.
My experience assembling solo taught me that putting the top half on works better if I snug all 4 corners up on the lower half and then just loosen the corner I am working on. Secure it and then move on to a different corner. Adding the next higher beam and brace as I go. Seems to prevent knocking opposite corner off while hammering. My assessment is it may be easier with 2 people but could destroy the relationship so better to go at it solo! (but nbd because the box says it assembles easily in minutes!😏)
FINALLY!!! If it had not been for your video, I might not have ever been able to assemble it. Even with your help, it wasn't easy. Actually, it was your video and CLAMPS that enabled me to succeed. Thank you this was very helpful. I got mine also at Walmart. I'm in Florida and in late April of 2022 it cost me $110.00 for one! Wish I grabbed it at that 50 dollar price. Live and learn I guess. 😆
I’ve seen all the videos for this shelf and this is the best video. I just ordered this from Walmart cause I have a few mid size and not to heavy yard tools I want to put on this. I know the shelf is cheap cause it’s a Walmart product but as long as it can hold a Weed wacker Two leaf blowers Tools Gas can and others light things then for $50 I call it a win/win .. the only problem I see is the cheap board Just don’t store heavy weight on 3rd or 4th shelf and all should be fine and definitely no liquid spills on these boards. Great video man
Thank you for the video. I was really getting frustrated on getting the second riser attached. I wasn't dividing the rivets for the connection. I was trying to double them up. Would not work. Now, I can finish the job putting it together. ( I was even going to have my brother- in law help me.)
I bought two of these - 1 yesterday and 1 today. Since it was only $35, I had to get the other one for this price. The one I bought today didn't have the couplers, like this one. I got on live chat and got 4 sent to me. While I was waiting, I noticed that these had 2 different sets of directions. The one yesterday had 4 couplers and the one I got today had directions that stated to do what's in this video. I probably won't wait for the couplers, seeing this was intended this way. I just hope it's as sturdy.
So that’s how the four shorts become four longs. Thanks for that. Probably why the old man said he got frustrated and was throwing them away. Funny thing is he kept the wood and just a week before I got the metal parts I sold the particle board shelves. Dang.
Thank you so much. I just finished putting together my shelf. My husband is going to be so surprised when he comes home and sees what I did all by myself. He may even think I have a boyfriend :-D
OMG....I was so frustrated! The paper directions that came with the shelves were so inadequate. I spent hours trying to put the top and bottom together! Thanks for making this step by step video! You made it simple and it was put together in no time!
Even though you did in 2016, thank you, because someone gave me two of these shelves, and I had no idea of how to put them together. I'm going home after work to put up my shelves!!
Thank you for helping me with the transition from the bottom half to the top half.... I could not visualize it before. Plus I was playing whack a mole with the spanning pieces... before using the mallet. They’d pop off on one end before I secured the other end... like the 3 Stooges...
For about the same money you can buy. Muscle rack shelf’s from walmart and they come with linking hardware to easily and secure combine the top and bottom tiers. Way more secure

Thank you for the video. It helped me assemble the rack since the box didn’t have instructions.
good tip to match up the sides for that little extra room. thanks.
Thanks! Was having trouble joining the two halves.
Wow - your video made it much easier than I thought. The directions that came with the shelves were terrible! Thanks!
Thanks so much for this video, nearly gave up, stupid company I ordered from did not include any instructions. Lifesavet😊
Always happy to help!
Just received 3 of this shelves for free at work, hoping will last a long time like yours.
Excellent demo. Am about to assemble some right now. Thank you!!
ROFLMAO!! Happy to help!
Great video I was so lost. Now mine is complete. Thanks
OMG....I was so frustrated! The paper directions that came with the shelves were so inadequate. I spent hours trying to put the top and bottom together! Thanks for making this step by step video! You made it simple and it was put together in no time!
You made this look easy! Lol. I’m going to buy some racks for my pantry. Thanks for putting up this video.
thanks was getting really mad trying to figure out how to add second set of legs seemed really unstable but it worked after watching you !!
Thanks as of June 12, 2019. Getting that next row up was frustrating with those very vague instructions
Man, I never thought this would be half as helpful as it seems to have been - happy to help :)
Even though you did in 2016, thank you, because someone gave me two of these shelves, and I had no idea of how to put them together. I'm going home after work to put up my shelves!!
Always happy to help!
