Pretty much agree with your ranking (although I haven't been to the Centurion Lounge). My last visit to Qantas was a bit off though - delicious squid, but weird eggs benedict with hard yolks and (very) soft whites! Note that the Qantas a la carte is not available all day though. With only two flights a day, it's available for brunch (9:30-11:30, I think) for the midday flight and then later on in the afternoon for the evening flight.
World class Salt & Pepper Squid in Quantas Charles. Cocktails - Negroni … one of my favourites. Old Fashioned as well and the dependable Espresso Martini. Agree with you on American lounge. David.
Negronis and old fashioned are always my go to choices David! That salt and pepper squid definitely seemed to be a popular choice in the Qantas lounge! Every table was ordering it!
We did this lounge crawl (excluding centurion)but super early at breakfast time so didn't get the full benefit really, and we were in the BA 1st class lounge purely because the business class lounge was really busy so they bumped us to the 1st class (well gold card) lounge. Cathay Pacific is always the winner for me.
Which lounge did you find had the best breakfast? I tend to quite like the BA breakfast offering, but Qantas can have some quite nice a la carte options. Haven’t tried out the AA or Cathay breakfast options but think I’ll check that out in a few months when I do a first class lounge crawl!
@@charlesontravels I think BA wins for breakfast closely followed by Qantas although Qantas opens at 8am so it was a last minute dash in there as we had an early flight to Sardinia. We found American to be lacking and don't think we'd bother with that lounge again. We're flying out of T3 early again in April so will just use our fave 3!
Useful. I will be in BA business class next April out of T3 and normally I'm flying American business out of there (normally would be once a year LOL) and just use the American lounge. I agree about the food area looking messy often but it is a big space with a lot of room even if there are many flights. A few months back i was there and there were three extra ad-hoc American flights that day and checkin queues / crowds downstairs were insane (I always fly HBO so could smugly breeze by) but the lounge could still handle it without feeling crowded. Is the Amex lounge business class ? AIUI I wouldnt be eligible because I dont have a fancy Amex card. (I do have an unfancy one). But with a fancy one i could be flying economy and still use it? Think i'll checkout a couple, I will be there at breakfast time any recommendations from other visits? ETA I agree about T5 BA lounges, i recall in the past once it was almost impossible to find space for a couple, we ended up on a very dirty table, and I know on other occasions seats have been few and far between.
For the Amex centurion lounge you just need either an AMEX Platinum or Centurion card. Doesn’t matter what airline or class of travel. You should definitely check out the Qantas and Cathay Pacific lounges!
Great facilities and the food was nice, but far too busy to fully enjoy especially given the quality of other lounges that are available! It made the BA T5 lounges seem quiet in comparison. I do think there are a lot of good reasons to get the platinum, but this lounge isn’t one of them!
How did you manage to get airside to the lounges so early? Was it because of your J class ticket? I have a BA business class flight from T3 in September and will try these lounges based on your great video but I assumed I could only go thru security 3hrs before my flight departure
For our specific circumstances, we were connecting from a flight that landed in t5 earlier in the day. But at Heathrow if you’re in business class or have status with BA you can use the business class check in desks to check in whenever you want
If you’re flying business class or have status to use the business class check in you should be able to go through as early as you like (once the airport is open!). We arrived early into T5 on a connecting flight and just went straight through to T3
Bloody love that Cathay lounge. Been through their entire menu. Showers are excellent.

Cathay Pacific and Virgin's Clubhouse (I know not One World) are the 2 leading Heathrow lounges final.

Thanks for the video. Hopefully CP sort out their cooking by October :D

Interesting you didn't rate the Centurion - it usually rates quite well! Never been myself as I'm too stingy to pay for the platinum card!

My main issue with the Centurion is the lack of windows and natural light which means there’s no plane spotting!

You had a lot of time to visit all the lounges. How early are you allowed to go through departures?

Did any of the lounges have showers? Thanks
Yes, all of them have showers available
